Problem with RNAS 8 Campaign

I wanted to try something different and started a Campaign with RNAS 8 in Flanders, Autumn 1916, flying N 17 (lewis)... But every time, many of the planes of our Sqn fail to take off! They stay stucked, with engines running at the runway start... I keep loitering above them with the couple of others that manage to take off and that's it... Any ideas? PS I also started a French Career with Esc 103, flying again N 17, (same time frame), and everything works fine...

That's an odd one, Elephant. I'm currently flying an RNAS 8 campaign, but I jumped ahead ever so slightly to pick up the Sopwith Pup. If all else fails, skip ahead a few months to December of 1916 and you'll have a cracking Pup campaign... sorry I don't have an answer to why the Nieups are grounded, though...

As devs we no longer have P3 loaded on our systems, so can someone else try the same squadron/time/date and see if they can replicate - preferably someone with no mods please.

If you use JSGME, you should switch all mods off/move them to the left frame, and try again then. Also make sure, wether you get 2 flights assigned, or only your one. You could count the pilots in the briefing, that should go up, and compare with the number of planes which do take off? Just an idea...

I've experienced this same issue with some R.E.8 squadrons. I posted about it in the Combat Ace forum in 2010 or 2011, but never got a reply. I solved it by transferring my pilot to another R.E.8 squadron, which didn't have the same problem for some reason.
If Combat Ace weren't down, I could try to search the old thread there. Unfortunately I can't remember which squadrons had this issue. There are a quite a few that fly the Harry Tate, but I had the problem in only one or possibly two of them.
EDIT: I have mods galore, so can't help with testing now.

Thanks for the responses, guys! I just came back from work... Here is my list of enabled Mods: It happens both ways for one or two flights missions. Some planes just refuse to take off. In the French Campaign I also started yesterday, with the exact same Mods enabled, I had no problems, whatsoever!

I can't remember if I had any mods already back then. Probably not, but I'm not sure. I'll try to dig up the old thread when Combat Ace returns. I remember I was unable to warp because some of the REs in my squadron refused to take off, just like the Nupes in elephant's case.
I'd forgotten the whole issue until now.

There's a lot of mods there, but one warning flag stands out: "AI empty weight" .... Just because it works somewhere doesn't mean it's fine always could be related to anything. As we say we cannot do support on anything that has been modded totally impossible.
Hasse it may be due to AI mode (less agressive etc) that was being used but we'll never know I guess. It needs a clean install with latest patches etc installed then we can see.
You could try changing the AI mode - possibly might help.

I deleted that pilot and started a new identical Campaign with RNAS 8, again. This time the whole flight got up and I didn't disable any mods! Mystery...

Odd one - something on the PC maybe got corrupted in memory or on disk.

Glad its working again Elephant. 8 RNAS is one of my favorite campaigns to fly (or, should I say attempt, I never last very long!)

Well, It was just the mission type (Airfield attack) and the fact that I was leading the flight. In the next mission the problem emerged again... I disabled the AI weights Mod and...ta-daaa!!! The rest of my Sqn was airborne again. Thank you all for the help and concern!

This is interesting, because there was no AI weight mod available when I experienced the refusal to take off in the R.E.8 squadron. I was unable to find the old thread in the CA forum (it seems the forum search doesn't remember my posts for more than a year), but I'll keep looking.
I think I didn't have the problem in every mission I flew, just every now and then. Still, it was annoying enough to force me to switch squadrons.
Elephant, please keep flying in RNAS 8 and let us know if the problem comes back.
When I have time, I'll try flying in the same squadron. I don't have the AI weight mod, so we'll see what happens.

Takeoff problems for some few combinations of squads/aircraft types/mission types were known problems since very long time. They seem to occur only very rarely, and I guess they will be eliminated in WOFF.

Yes we are creating all brand new occasional random issues lol Seriously it could also be down to things like the AI code being stopped or interfered with (AntiVirus etc or other background task? or modded FM/aicraft weight etc. Best exit the manager and load and try again or reboot etc first.

I'm a bit late to the party but I started a RNAS-8 campaign this week and after 4 hours flight time I've had no issues. I started right from October 1916 and it's been a joy so far. I'll post back if anything 'wonky' happens.

Thanks Shiloh, I think it's just a very rare occurrence as we'd have seen many reports of it over the years otherwise and we haven't. It is possibly due to something crashing in memory or the mods affecting the AI flying. As always if anyone sees an oddity like that usually making a new pilot, or exit OFF and restart of the PC should fix.
