great stuff and nice details added. im always worried about the tamiya models as they are so expensive (i generally do 1/32 or 1/35). then again im a relative novice but getting better with each build.

That looks like a great project but the original photo is not from Summer 1940. During the battle of Britain our fighters did not have the blue band around the rear of the fuselage. The rear fuselage band was introduced on 22 Apr 1941.

Oops-the caption from the site I found this on (was it Life magazine? It was ages ago) listed it as such.

Is that band considered blue? It looked white to me, and appears lighter than the sky underside, which is barely blue to start with lol.

Looking at the larger version of the picture I have on my desktop, it appears the same color as the white on the vertical stabilizer. Or am I looking at the wrong thing?

It could be my eyes playing tricks on me but it does look like a difference between the band and the underside color-what do you guys think?

Any ideas why there don't seem to be antenna wires on this plane? The hole is there (you can see it in the roundel) and the antenna post but no wires. I went to the trouble of scratchbuilding a radio and it occurred to me if the antenna wires are gone, maybe this plane doesn't have one!

Yes it does look closer to white on your photo but the directive was for the band to be "sky". In practice though "sky" could be anything from blue to green to grey. It all depended on what was available at the time the painting was done, so I guess that is just a very light grey. As for the antenna wires, It could be that as the plane is being worked on, the wires have been disconnected. You can be sure when it was in service it did indeed have a radio fitted.
