Good Old Games comes through again. They've gotten the old Commandos games working on faster computers and on 64-bit systems, so now I am working my way through Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines and the hellishly difficult sequel; Beyond the Call of Duty. I'm telling you, games were much better in the olden days! BEL includes 22 or 23 levels IIRC, the biggest ones requiring several hours to get through. You have to get the timing exactly right, and use the commandos to the best of their abilities. I'm having so much fun with these games! Some of my favourite gaming memories are being revisited  $5.99 for hours upon hours of strategy gaming goodness

I found the Commando games to be the hardest games I have ever played and never got past the first level on any of them. I actually don't think I moved very far at all lol

I bought the full package on Steam. Unfortunately, some of them did not work on new computers. Just why Steam bothers to sell them, I don't know.
I did get to play and fully complete "Men of Courage", though. IMO, "Men of Courage" is one of the most fantastic PC games I've ever played. The visuals, the sounds, the (incredible!) music... and the gameplay.

I did get to play and fully complete "Men of Courage", though. IMO, "Men of Courage" is one of the most fantastic PC games I've ever played. The visuals, the sounds, the (incredible!) music... and the gameplay. Discussions on this topic abound. The Steam versions are NOT updated for modern computers and operating systems, while the GOG versions are. So if you can spare another $5.99, go for it again! 600mb download, and you can play the first two games perfectly on your 64-bit system with no ridiculous speed issues. Oh, and agree on Commandos 2, that is one of the most perfect games ever released, IMO!

I suppose to hope for Widescreen support would be naive? It is possible in Commandos 2, and maybe in the older games as well. Google "Commandos widescreen" or similar to find out!

Oh Commandos... fantastic games, specially 2. 1 was ok, 2 was perfect, 3... I don't know, missions weren't that enjoyable anymore. And 4, well, crap. But 1 & 2, man, I still play these games once in a while. The ambiance in those games is sooo freaking good. Oh and Mace, there's even a patch for v2 that makes the game HARDER than the standard version, so I guess you're alone in this...

When I'd go away from Commandos 2 between play sessions, I'd find myself planning my next moves and hearing the mission music in my head.

I realize GOG is DRM free, so that means you don't have to have some sort of GOG client running to play your games?
