It's a bit disappointing that those with the upgrade will have to wait as this is just for 'full BS2 keys'.

I bought BS1 when it came out, so bought an upgrade to BS2 when that came out, so in some ways those who have been playing for longer aren't going to be able to test the beta.

Of course, if DCS World goes gold quickly then not long to wait.. smile

I have to agree , the people who had faith in ED and bought the original version are getting
left behind (maybe they want us to buy the BS2 full version and to have paid for the same game 3 times?)

It is a pity we have to wait (hopefully not as long as we have been waiting for the legandary Neveda "update")

But we shall wait and see ...... hopefully not too long

"The module of Black Shark 2 upgrade version will be released later after release of the final versions of the modules."

Not entirely sure what todo - as I only have BS1, but you should be in the clear!

Yeah I just have to wait an undetermined length of time ...... anyone remember the fabled Neveda for A-10C ......

You on the other hand are better off , you could go and buy the FULL BS2 version for £14.99 (I wish I had)

It all depends on what they mean by "after" full release. If by after, they mean at the same time, then I won't be too miffed.

If it's anything more than a day or two, I'll be very unhappy.

My guess it's not really a technical reason but a cost one. The activation keys come from a 3rd party supplier and ED probably want to minimize the costs of having to re-authorize the BS1 -> BS2 upgrade keys for this beta bit. It's a case where they have to balance annoying some users (it is just beta access afterall) with the per-key cost during this pre-release period.

As BS1 was also available via Steam, and BS2 didn't make it there then it might be related to that as well i.e. a different pool of keys that has a different charge for them.

Like I said, just guessing smile but they probably don't encourage internet wrath for fun or at least no reason..

Hope you're right Fearless. I don't envy the mods over there just now. Lots of anger to control. Not mine as Im cool with it as long as its still a beta

You are both correct. Posts need to be moderated and opinions need to be heard. It is a pity that sometimes they are mutually exclusive because everyone suffers for it then.

As previous posters have mentioned, moderators have a tough job to do at times like this. However, the biggest problem with forum moderators is their stance. In my opinion, moderators should be friendly (regardless of circumstances - their job is also to set an example), not condescending, helpful, and as neutral as they can be. Unfortunately it is hard to find a moderator who fits that bill exactly and as a result of this, some moderators actually incite flaming and baiting. It's a sad situation really.

Anyhow, thanks for your insight, FearlessFrog. I never knew that about the keys. Sometimes a bit of clarity on the situation is a good idea *hint hint, ED*. Staying silent is the worst thing you can do IMO!

? It was explained very clearly in the release announcement.

EDIT:- It seems I must have read an earlier version of the announcement - it isn't as clear now.
