So I was voluntold to serve food to civilians who are coming to Armed Forces Appreciation Day here at Ft. Lee. Anyone else see that irony?

Hopefully the civvies will tell you "thank you". smile

My job as a Crew Chief, the only appreciation we ever get is from pilots and each other, and that's okay with me. smile

I'm sure they will when we put the food on their plates, too bad we are eating at the Marine DEFAC in the morning. Man, the Marines eat terribly. I try to sneak over to the Air Force DEFAC, now there is a service that feeds helps fail their airmen's PT tests.

The ones who matter appreciate the armed forces every day, and the ones who don't, don't matter.

Yep, one reason why I liked being stationed at Camp Anaconda in Iraq was that the Air Force was in charge while we were there. The quality of the amenities there certainly went up a notch after they took over from the Army. biggrin I need to find that pic of two of our company's officers eating seafood in the DFAC. biggrin

Heh. Oddly enough USAF folks find chaw hall food disgusting. I guess they haven't had army food to compare.

I remember going through recruiting school in Pensacola, the chow was some of the best I'd had on a base, and the Air Force folks going to school there were actually getting extra money because the food was "unacceptable by Air Force standards." That, and then some of the guys complaining because the 2 room (per person) barracks with cleaning service and cable didn't have Cinemax or Showtime but only HBO.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess... screwy
