I am getting frame rates likely in the single digits, which seems low given I'm running 2 6970 2 GB cards. I am dialing down AA and other in game settings and have set my CCC settings to Application Controlled, but frame rates still blow. Are there any basic tweaks I need to do?

Motion blur also seems way overdone, especially when just turning one's head. Thanks.

Video Options / Advanced / Post process effects. I tend to just go with 'disabled' but it's worth playing with for taste.

Thanks. Are there any "cool" features that I am losing when I disable that?

my understanding is that the game hates sli. I have heard of sli owners disabling one gpu when playing this game. worth a shot.

It's always a quandary to me if one should choose "Application controlled" or specify the graphics parameters via the CCC. Any thoughts on that basic division of approaches?

I also have an ATI card. I get better performance with low AA and smoothing out the jaggies by increasing the 3D rendering a notch or two, I cant remember the percentages. Also as said before post processing off. i have objects and terrain very high, lowering those doesnt get me very high gains.

Also dial back the visibilty to 3km or so if not flying.

Edit: re ccc i found that i got the annoying red border and white dots in trees when i didnt have it set to application controlled.

If you are struggling for performance but still want to have AA, I recommend completely turning off AA in-game and then enabling FXAA in the ArmA config file. You can see how here:

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/arma2.cfg

If you're running the latest beta, you can also use SMAA, which is even better (IMO better than the FSAA that can be turned on in the game).

I'd also recommend Post-process effects at low. The performance difference between off and low is very limited, and you gain several nice effects without getting gratuitous blooming and blurring.

Thanks

How do you enable trackIR? I have freelook enabled and my mouse can turn my head independently of my movement, but trackIR isn't responding.
TrackIR is running and the software recognizes ArmA2. I checked the Arma2 command options and don't see any key for turning on TrackIR.
It is running as I have verified in the software.

If you still want AA, you can turn off AToC (as well as other options not available in-game) in the Arma2OA.cfg: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/arma2.cfg
