Hi everyone,

Having only played DCS: A-10c since the start of the year, I'm no expert, but I think I've found the fastest way to start this thing up. The checklist assumes you have already done the interactive startup tutorial - it's based on that, but with some steps switched around to get the INS aligning as soon as possible.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe it's possible to do it faster than this, due to the amount of time it takes the INS to align.

It took me a few tries to actually complete the list in under 5 minutes, but it is possible with a little practice.

Anyway, this saves me 90 seconds off the auto-start time, which can really add up if you tend to crash a lot in multiplayer.

Suppose you had a very hostile force incoming to your airfield with heavy bombers. How many steps would be needed just to get the bird in the air and flying away? smile

^^^ In that case you take off with the Left Engine only and the CDU not yet aligned... pilot

If you're life was on the line, I'd get the ground crew to start pushing the jet as soon as I was in... won't even take the time to strap myself. APU and gen on, inverters, pumps, L engine, go!

If you set up your cockpit before starting (like we Crew Chiefs do) you can already have the AC GEN switches and Fuel Boost Pump switches ON. AC Generators come online when the engines are up.

Our pilots generally don't put the canopy down until they get to EOR (End Of Runway inspections/last chance)...no biggie, it might be cold or rainy. wink

Scramble you can shut down APU right after #2 is stabilized. In real world, got time to do it right, let's save wear and tear...APU should run for 2 minutes after #2 to cool down after the extreme temps it creates under load getting #2 started.

TO TRIM should be held until you get the green light. In the sim if you're not doing (real world) trim and over ride trim checks it probably takes a second, but if you do these checks it might take 2-3 seconds. wink

Just throwing stuff out there for fun. Looks like a good guide!

Battery
Inverter to STBY
APU
APU GEN
AC GEN and Boost Pumps switches while APU is spooling up
LENG START
RENG START
NWS
"Pull chocks Chief! See ya!"

Probably around 3 minutes from battery to taxi. smile

Of course if it were this big of an emergency as a Crew Chief I might already have the jet running by the time the pilot grabs his gear and gets to the jet. I'm engine run qualified. wink

Pretty good, thanks mate smile It usually takes me about 6-7 minutes to start up and test / configure everything (I don't use a printed checklist anymore, because I've memorized all the steps). Still gotta give this a whirl - thanks again smile
