Transformers, the last knight. They actually made a boring robot fighting movie where transformers are pushed to the back and useless drivel as a stupid plot.

Watched the "The Sand Pebble"....

with Steve McQueen on an American gun ship playing an engineer during the Chinese Boxer revolution.
Candice Bergan is in it when she was in her 20's I think.

If you haven't seen it, it worth a look even over todays newly released stuff.

Good movie, good director and story.

Cowboys & Aliens. A film that in my opinion delivers far more than the title might suggest. A good, fun film with very good special effects.

Equilibrium. Probably the 4th time of viewing. Plus,it stars the lovely Emily Watson! (No,not the vapid idiot Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame).

Angela's Ashes, also starring Emily Watson, and Robert Carlyle. I've seen this so many times and it never gets old, absolutely brilliant film.

I think the problem with "Cowboys & Aliens" is that it strove to be something big and memorable but in the end it was just an average "ok" movie with some nice special effects. A film you watch once and then soon forget about a few weeks later.

Indeed Panzer.I had seen C&A about 2 years ago,but last night watching it again with my nephew,I could not answer his questions about how the plot played out, until of course we got to the relevant sections when I suddenly remembered. However I put some of the blame for that on my age and not necessarily the movie.

Another interesting thing about "Cowboys & Aliens" is that it has 3 very talented actors in it (Ford, Craig and Wilde) but for whatever reason the chemistry between the three just didn't quite work for me.

Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
Started watching the Daredevil series quite enjoying it, not as much action in it as I would have expected, it went up a notch when the Punisher turned up tho, looking forward to watching his story now too. smile

In the last episode I was watching I noticed there were references to other TV series that I had noticed the names of on Netflix, but I had never realised that they were with the Marvel universe like Jessica Jones etc.

in between waiting for our Southland disks to come in we started watching the Netflix series Bloodline. My brother told me about it because he spent 15 years living in the Keys and this is filmed in Key Largo and Islamorada.

2015-17

pretty decent cast and it pulls you in right away.

Story Line "Intriguing story of a well off family in the Florida Keys that have many dark secrets. The siblings are heirs of a beautiful inn that has been in their family for 50 years. It is their childhood home with many great memories, but the deep dark past holds many untold tales. "

Sam Sheppard is the Dad
Sissy Spacec is the Mother
Kyle Chandler is one son, seen him in many movies.
Linda Cardellini is the daughter who looks familiar but can't place her from her shows
Ben Mendelsohn is the troubled brother who comes back. I've seen him in a few movies and he's very good in this show.
Norbert Leo Butz is the last brother, no clue who he is

Silent Running: somehow I'd missed this one until now, having watched many other classic early 70s sci-fi (Logan's Run, Andromeda Strain, THX-1138, Clockwork Orange). I really enjoyed it, especially with the very minimal cast - it's more like a play. It's dated a bit, but the conflict between Bruce Dern's righteous eco-warrior and the killing of his crewmates is an interesting one.

Kingsman: this was hoot, and you could tell everyone involved in making it had a good time on set. Samuel Jackson chews the scenery as the Bond-esque villain, and there are some very good set pieces that seem to borrow a lot from 90s and 00s British films like Lock Stock, Trainspotting and Shaun of the Dead, as well as the old game No One Lives forever and the Flint films with James Coburn.

And for those who likes the old NOLF games...

Interstellar.

FANTASTIC sci fi movie.

The lead actor was not a good choice for the role IMO, and some of the script was cringeworthy (Michael Caine's lines.. argh. He could have been given so much better material, his talent is immense). The lead actor was not bad but it just didn't fit.

But the scientific accuracy of the film was just great. I don't think I've ever seen another sci fi movie that tried to stick to science so closely.

I liked Interstellar too, we are lucky to have a nice crop of intelligent sci-fi films in recent years (Arrival, Cloud Atlas, Interstellar, District 9, Children of Men, Inception, etc)

M*A*S*H season one.

Wow, I was watching this in the late 70s as a kid, with my folks. There's several episodes with borderline rape themes. I don't recall that being on TV but I must have seen it.

I never saw this movie but one thing I do remember about it is that it was a huge box office flop. I remember many of the film/showbiz websites talking about that when the film was released.
