I am about to go ballistic on Gamestop. I needed to change my old email address to my new one so that I could buy a product that was on sale. Nope, they don't have support on the weekend so missed the sale and when they finally responded some 4 four days later they wanted serial code and product codes for a few games as proof of ownership of the account. Prior to Gamestop taking over from Stardock you could easily change the email address from within the client and have it done in less than a minute. Not anymore.

It doesn't end there. I finally got the address changed about two weeks ago but today I find out I can't install or update any of my games I own because it claims my email address or products codes have invalid registration. It looks like the morons are now tying our email address to the product codes as another from of DRM. It is now the weekend again so I won't hear from them for another 4 days or so and even then they are going to give me the run-around to prove the games are mine. What a %$#@&* joke they are and I vow to never buy another product from them.

I long for the days when I could walk into a B&M, physically pick up a game, buy it and take it home. This digital download garbage, DLC, Pay2Play, etc. etc. is just a huge annoyance for me. Now, I realize a lot of people like it and so do I, when it works... but when it doesn't it's just a huge clusterf--k.

And the whole situation could be taken a little better if the people you contacted at least feigned interest. Most of the time they act like they don't even care that you gave them money for a product.

I guess you can tell any company that annoys me to the point of me having to contact them, usually loathes the conversation. smile

So, it's been three weeks since I tried to get this issue resolved and it still will not install with an error message about invalid email address or serial code. Gamestop/Impulse last suggestion two days ago was to reset the game data in the client which did not fix the issue.
I've already told them then issue has to be because I had my email address changed so they need to issue me a new serail code tied to my current email address but inbstead of doing that they just f#*k me around for three weeks.

Yesterday I bought the retail version of Elemental WoM and when I went to register it into Impulse there was an update to Impulse and that update removed the ability to register a retail game into Impulse. Got the game imported into Impulse but no way to register it. If I tried to update it in Impulse it would refuse because the game was not registered. The only way to get patches for Stardock games is to register them. No DRM Brad Wardell claims? BS!

Go to Stardock and search through their knowledge base on how to register a Stardock game into Impulse and it tells you to use the now removed register feature I just mentioned. After much searching I find out you now have to register it with Stardock themselves and they no longer use the Impulse client. funny that their knowledge base tells you otherwise. Register the game with Stardock and then go to MyGames section and there is no patch for Elemental, instead they make me download the complete game that is updated to the latest version.

Uninstall my retail copy and install the DD version and once again it wants my account info and serial number to activate over the internet. Brad Wardell is a liar that he is anti DRM. I own the retail version but to play with the much needed patches for this game i am forced to use the DD version that is laced with DRM. The game even tries to get you to login automatically every time you load it with claims of better features.

Now I have Elemental showing in my Impusle client with no way to remove it even though it is not able to even update the game. I still can't instal my copy of M&B Warband through Impulse three weeks after contacting them. Yesterdays BS with trying to get Elemental updated cost me three hours of my time and 2GB of my bandwidth cap. These people are incompetent.

As soon as Impulse got bought out I dropped it and never bought another game with it. Gamestop is just as much a blight on gaming as EA is IMHO and I will never purchase a game that supports them.

Stardock used to be one of my favorite game studios but not anymore. They sold their user base out to the devil. I try not to buy their games but sometimes I get sucked it. (like with this latest SOSE release.) When I do though I buy through steam.

I'm now on week 5 or 6 of trying to resolve this issue with M&B Warband and today I get this in my email from them. What a &%$#ing farce. I am now going to contact their head office and make a complaint to a higher up.

"Hello,

If I read correctly are you trying to download this game to a Mac or a pc?

Impulse (Game Stop) has its uses. I often find games on there considerably cheaper compared to Steam.

Perhaps so but their support is pathetic. I have just registered at Talesworlds and am going to see if they know what is up with invalid serial number or email address. I am quite certain it is because my email address changed since I bought the game and it is a case of DRM once again screwing over the customer.
