I got a few questions, as I just started using this program last night.

I have the path set correctly to my Rise of Flight/data folder, because I am getting the missions, so I am good on that end. I did not set my log file to 1 yet. For some reason that step was not obvious in the various posts I read. From what I can tell it only affects the auto report function. I set the AAR to 2, picked the correct planes owned tab as well.

But here are my issues using it, and I am hoping its something real simple to solve:

1. I pick a county(germany), name, date(05/01/1917), squad(Jasta 17 AlbIII), then generate mission. Do I leave this open, then start RoF? Keep it open while I play?

2. No issues with the begining of a mission, but getting close to the first waypoint, I get horrible, horrible, slowdown. Everything is in slowmotion. I reduces number of planes, but it seems no matter what its starts slowing down to a grinding slideshow after a while.

3. I set max offensive as low as 15 and still have a huge distance to travel. It seems it was not affected. Is this right?

I am a big fan of dynamic campaigns. I never played IL2 without Paul's DCG, and am hoping to get the same kind of fun from RoF and this one. Just need to set it up right I am guessing. So any guru's or Pat himself able to help me out a bit? Thanks much in advance.

1: RoFCampaign and RoF are completely different programs. I would shut down RoFCampaign while playing to save a bit of resources. Load time of RoFCampaign is seconds so no big deal to restart it.

2. RoFCampaign is harder on your system than RoF missions. Because the planes really do fly a path rather than get triggered by proximity they are active through most of the flight. Set activity level to "Low" on the configuration screen. This is the level that I play at on my three year old machine and it seems to work reasonably well. Still plenty of action at that level.

3. To some degree the distance that you have to travel depends on how far from the front you are based. If you are 30 km from the front then then you will have to fly 30 km each way on most flights. Two things that help: find a squadron closer to the front (depends on squadron and date so I can't be of much help in finding a specific one). The second is to reduce activity (set to Low) make time compression work better.

Thanks much, Patrick. I will give the low settings a try and see how that works.

Thanks for the program, and the help.

Okay, time to add the DH5. I will try to get some time to work on some more bug fixes too.

Let's see : the DH4 seats only one more, it's wings also stagger (different directions but that's a minor point), it can't be more than twice as big, rotary vs inline but still an engine ... it's easy enough to confuse them, don't you think?

Without looking through 131 pages and 1300 posts, where do I get the latest version? The one linked on page 1 is dated 2010, the one on 777's site just says "Latest"

Latest means the latest. Check included readme for exactly which version you downloaded.
