The zombies look pretty easy to pick off, like they just break up long periods of nothing happening until to you meet the real foes- other players. It looks difficult to actually be killed by a zombie. On balance, would the gameplay be better if the zombies were more of a threat, forcing players to cooperate more instead of hunt one another, (in order to get supplies so you can hunt one another so more) ? I imagine it more like Doom- roving groups of zombies sniffing you out, trapping you in rooms. Of course, you would still fight the occasional player, but it wouldn't be the focus as much. I assume you can't play as a zombie, is that right?

You can't play as zombie, no. I also think they should make zombies tougher, they're a bit too easy now.

Like Tigerwulf I also started playing when there was only 4 or 6 servers. The explosion in new servers is crazy.

My current character has been alive for about 6-7 hours. I have a tent stocked with supplies, today I was playing, and searched for helicopter parts, as I found a green Huey that needs a new tail rotor. I haven't killed any bandits or survivors yet, I tend to help whoever I meet, if I see bandits, I usually stalk them, keeping out of sight. Most people I meet are luckily friendly.

Here's a shots from today, I met a guy far up north east. We were about 500 meters from each other, and at first we weren't sure if we could trust each other. He was lost and starving and needed painkillers, so I gave him some painkillers and we made a fire and cooked some goat steaks. smile

I think having active day and night cycles would probably add alot- you need to eat in the game, but they shouldn't neglect sleeping as well. Night time is when the zombies should become more active and home in on the smell of humans, makes it more eerie and less convenient, so you're not always just prepared to meet zombie threats, now they are stalking you rather than the other way around. I don't know how they'd implent that though.

Can you ever trust any strangers in the game. The minute you start making food can't he just shoot you in the back of the head and steal your stuff..?

There are real-time day and night cycles already.

And Beach, that's just it someone can be friendly and then perhaps see you with something that would help them (you are not on the same server with the same people all the time) so they decide to kill you and take it. But you are thinking the same too.... smile

As has been said before it's not the zombies that are the most dangerous hazards.

I'd need an accomplice with big boobs and a bikini. She could draw them in and I could take them out from afar.. biggrin

It works every time..

You're right Beach, it's a gamble. I play on the Euro servers, I've been told by people in the game, that players in general are more hostile, shoot on sight like, on the US servers. Interesting social phenomenon if that's true..

What the...

Who are you, Woody Harrelson in a bloody grocery store? Are you sitting in a tank there?

3 villages, an airfield (!) and a supermarket- not possible on the servers I've been on so far. When I read that someone was trying to approach an airfield he was always dead a second later- sniped by either a bandit or someone who just wanted to make sure no one gets too close to him.

You seem to do pretty good. Congratulations! :-)

Me, I already have problems finding a free server. I hope to be able to hook up with some friendly players next time.

@Mace: I usually play on the EUR3 server, sometimes on one of the US servers when it's too dark for my tastes at night (->different timezones-different). Couldn't log in the last two days, will most probably play again tomorrow evening.

@Ojokoltsa: I blame luck and good reconnaissance. And staying away from the well-known PvP killing zones. The NE airfield for example is far less contested than the the big one in the NW. wink

@Kontakt: Zombies are indeed not THAT dangerous, at least when you got a good weapon. The problem is that gunfire attracts zombies. The 1st time I found a Winchester I got overconfident and was killed shortly after by a mob of zombies... and sometimes a single zombie might get a hit in. If you then start bleeding and lack bandages, well...

And of course there will be changes to zombies (and lots of other stuff) in the future.

I hope this gets the same treatment Iron Front has and becomes it's own game. What's your name in game PB?
