What's to say that we won't/can't tweak the AFM of the Mustang to make it fly like a Bearcat? winkngrin

I understand what you are saying though, and its a fair point to bring up (don't think you're a turd in a punchbowl, because it's a good discussion topic).

We've always tried to make things as realistic as possible. We flew for years with a Eagle cockpit, Eagle flight dynamics, and Eagle sounds. Only within the last couple of years were we able to add a Hornet cockpit, tweak the SFM files to make the jet fly more like a Blues' Hornet, and change the sounds to sound like a Hornet.

There is a ton more that we have worked on and will continue to work on, but I'm pretty sure that Eagle Dynamics has never told anyone that whatever modding they were doing to their sims was bad.

What VBA_Rhino said, pretty much.

It's a fair concern insofar as how servers might decide to utilize such mods, but it should absolutely not be confused with the standards Eagle Dynamics sets for it's products. Rather, you should consider the mods to be the product of the modder, and made to standards defined by the modder, not Eagle Dynamics.

I didn't even know that modding DCS was possible. How is this policed online? Is there something like a server side mods on/ mods off box?

VBA, actually I think its amazing what you guys have done with the F-18. I guess you could say, "I love your work!". Although that might not exactly be clear reading above. Seeing these capabilities in DCS was a bit of a surprise.

The more Important DCS Files have to be passed through an integrity check on joining a server - so the only way to fly a Game changing mod online is if the server too has these mods installed. If you don't have the mod installed you can join.

If you have a mod installed and try to join a regular server - you can't.

I think it is less that ED have placed these capabilities in the hands of the modders - more that they can do nothing to, nor want to prevent people modding, so for singelplayer you can do what you want with the sim. For Multiplayer tools are given to let the server decide what happens.

BTW I do think the is a good topic for discussion, if I came across as less than polite then I apologise, it was not my intention.
