In looking at Trinity articles, none makes perfectly clear the performance advantage per clock of Piledriver over Bulldozer. Though, it would not be too difficult to get that comparison.

One article claims to -- but does not have credibility with me. Exactly what was being compared is not perfectly clear. That article shows about 10 percent improvement per clock -- if true.

To be worth it to this AMD fan, Piledriver has to be 10 percent per core per clock better than Bulldozer. So, in the right direction. But, to purchase on that basis would be for fun -- or irrational smile

AMD says Piledriver uses "Resonant Clock Mesh" to cut power/heat by 10 percent at a given frequency. One can "daydream" that this might improve OC by 10 percent. So, 10 percent for improved architecture plus 10 percent for higher clocks plus 5 percent for Windows 8 starts to get interesting. But, I'm not "predicting" things will turn out that well -- that's probably the best that can happen smile
