Plug came with the case. Also tried another one and it did not work. I'm going to go with defective USB ports. Sent Corsair tech support an email, we'll see what they say.

OK I think I see the USB ports on the case are the 3.0 and you are using a Converter cable to connect the 2.0 to the 3.0 ports on the case?? Well I would say you might have them plugged in the wrong way.. do you have another old case you could plug some 2.0 ports into that motherboartd to test if it is the motherboard ports??

I would highly doubt ALL 3 USB's are broke..

Check BIOS Settings, You might need to Enable Legacy mode for USB3 to be used as USB 2.0.

There should be 3 settings in the BIOS, USB 1.0/1.1 Enable/Disable, USB 2.0 Enable/Disable, and USB 3.0 Legacy Support.

the fact that windows See's the device but doesnt recognize it means that the Port is Working but it doesnt recognize the device because of:

A. BIOS Configuration
B. Converter isnt converting USB3 -> USB2 correctly.
C. Windows Did not install the Correct Drivers for the USB Ports.

My BIOS has the following:

USB Controller - Enabled
USB 2.0 Controller - Enabled
USB Legacy Support - Enabled

Do I have to disable the first two options?

Then that rules out the BIOS. I can try looking for drivers but I don't seem to see any on Corsair's website.

I notice the on-board sockets are 9 pin (10 positions, one without pin).

The female plug you picture has 20 sockets/holes. If the spacing is right, the 9 socket pins could be going into "every other" socket/hole -- so it plugs in. However, a 20 connector plug in a 9 pin socket -- that does not "seem right" from "afar" (Ohio). Seeming not right does not mean its not right -- merely an observation.

If the cable has no "Key Pin Hole" , then its possible your attaching the cable backwards (Pin 1 is going into Pin 20's hole etc).

So, First, Device Manager, Uninstall the Root Hub for the Addon Port from the device manager. Shut down.

take the USB cable off the header, make Sure the Key Pin (Missing Pin on the Mainboard), is lined up with the same pin holes that have no pins,

For you mainboard you should only be using the ports in BLUE for USB:

it is also possible if you hooked them to the wrong ports, the voltage being sent down the wrong lead could have fried it.

Three highlighted were the only ones I plugged it into.

I never actually looked at the pins on the USB 3 to 2 converter header (correct term?). I'll have to compare it to the one that is pre-installed in my Sonata 3.

So essentially you are saying my motherboard has 9 pins and the plug has 20 and therefore won't be compatible? If so, I find it odd to make such a converter in the first place? Or are there two types of "USB 2" interfaces on motherboards?
