New mission is up -
"Back To School"
Somebody did not get the lesson plan.

A-10C 16xRunway Start
Red:
A-10C 8xAir Start
Ka-50 4xRunway Start

General Vaz is at it again, maybe in a last desparate attempt to pull his red coalition together. Political pundits think it is a bad move for the Red Democratic Republic (RDR). Some think the General is dead and that the RDR is hiding behind his image.
The United Nations is calling for restraint.
The Blue Liberation Front (BLF) is surprised at this attack at Beslan. There is no strategic value, in fact the city is difficult to approach on a broad front. Traffic is restricted at river crossings.
---
General Vaz has vowed to take down the monument to "the imposters of our struggle", and blamed the BLF authorities for "a terrible tragedy" in Beslan. He said he was "cruelly mistaken" and that he was "not delighted by what happened there", but also added to be "planning more Beslan-type operations in the future because we are forced to do so."
---
The RDR and General Vaz must be stopped.
---
RDR forces have been assembling for weeks - here and there, and catching notice of BLF eyes.
The red RDR forces suddenly staged an attack on Beslan - but uncoordinated.
Blue BLF reinforcements are arriving at the airport to defend the city and protect the monument.
As more BLF forces arrive it appears that the RDR is in disarray. BLF intelligence reports that General Vaz is missing.
The RDR seems to have lost control of the Beslan attack. It remains to be seen if red forces will launch air strikes - if they do the BLF will be in serious trouble.

Designer's Notes
Mission by Wrecking Crew
Blue wins by killing all 13 red tank groups. These tank groups are found between Beslan and the two waypoints to the south east - Surza Bridge and Yugni Ferry.
Red wins by:
1. Capturing Beslan Airbase - kill all blue units there and a red support column will advance to the base.
2. Clearing all blue ground units from Mozdok Airbase.
This mission is intended for hosting on Eno's Firehouse. Please ask for permission for any other use.
Some of the quotes in this mission come from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beslan_school_hostage_crisisWhen I realized that Beslan and its history are a part of the Balkan's Map, I wanted to do a General Vaz bad-guy mission around it, with lots of enemy (red) tanks on the ground ready for a sucker-punch.
Reading the history of Beslan's SNO should make anyone reflect about the differences that drive peoples apart.
This mission is using the recent history of the area in a story-line of DCS A-10C missions.

Red Task
Red RDR pilots -
This mission pits RDR Client aircraft against the BLF A-10Cs.
The BLF side has A-10C's only.
If the RDR a/c can clear Beslan AB then support units will move in to capture the base.
The RDR must also clear Mozdok Airbase to win.
General Vaz has communicated that He will join our forces at Beslan Airbase.
Blue Task
Defend the Beslan City unit-buildings from destruction. Red armor groups have built up around Beslan. A few columns are now moving against the city.
If RDR armor can reach the city then insurgents are expected to join their fight. Prevent the enemy units from attacking the city and airbase. All enemy units are south east of Beslan.
Blue A-10C pilots be aware that all other a/c in this mission are enemy.
Enemy fixed wing aircraft may launch from the Tbilisi tri-ports area. Red Ka-50s are rumored.

Folks, I hesitated a bit with the mission briefing, considering the violent history of the Beslan SNO. That building is tied to events dating back well before the school crises. I mean no disrespect to the innocent victims of the happenings there. This mission is what it is, take it as face value - blue and red - red and blue - nothing else.
