We can already import pictures during the character creation stage, so that part is taken care of. Pictures for the other pilots maybe OK, but I fear even with hundreds of images we would see repetition. Perhaps being able to select the picture for other squadron mates could alleviate this, however as you say they tend to die rather quickly and have the chance to transfer, so it could become tedious.

Attributes for squad mates sounds potentially interesting, although I am under the assumption that they get better during each mission, but perhaps an addition to the AI in having a negative attribute, such as sickly, or a positive such as excellent gunnery skills may help.

Have you felt any competition with your squadmates? Someone else who is close to your score and always stays in touch with you? I had this recently with my Pup career, and one day he didn't return from a mission. The results showed he was credited with a kill, but was listed as killed with a line through his name and I honestly felt kind of happy...I guess I am a sick person lol.

Observers having their own names too, with the ability of the pilot, perhaps after gaining an appropriate rank, to choose who to take and again they will vary in quality. Plus it wasn't unheard of for an observer to switch into becoming a pilot, maybe add this as a possibility (he disappears and the re-appears a few weeks later as a pilot, not necessarily the same squadron though).

All these features will probably take years to get incorporated smile.

Who is saying you have to? I already said I can get 30 planes in the air no prob. You say that Pat's generator has got more planes in the air, why would you have to give up anything? We just need the devs to step it up some.

My post was in direct response to the quoted post you provided from the FE forum. In particular, this statement (bold added by me):

Quote:
i used to fly ROF for a while, but despite all its beauty and complexity, offline it tends to be quite boring .even with the new beta campaign...ROFs DF Ai is quite weak and very predictable and the missions are often rather lifeless, especially if you linger away from the path.....FE2 in comparison seems to be rather primitive regarding flightmodelling, graphics, sounds etc. but it manages to be FUN !

I thought that by including it in my original reply, it would be clear what I was responding to. I even patterned my reply a bit to mimic what I was responding to (all caps FUN was an echo of the original).

So, to answer your question, the poster of the above and presumably you (since you quoted it as representative of your views) were saying that accepting a lower quality FM in order to achieve fun is an acceptable outcome. And I didn't agree. It wasn't a combative answer. Just a different opinion.

cheers

I guess I was referring to his thoughts on ROF, not his thoughts on First Eagles 2. I should have cropped that part out. The point is, we can have both. It's already been established you can put way more planes in the air than the current career mode offers, it just needs to be implemented. The career needs more life to it.

I will also add this: I have stated that I'm holding off spending more money until the career mode gets fleshed out more, with one exception. I would gladly spend another $50 on stuff today if they un-tethered the offline career mode to internet. That way I can more or less "own" the game and all the planes I have purchased instead of just renting the game with my shoddy internet connection.

Yep. BTW, I submitted Jasta 40s over at the RoF forum and am working on Jasta 5. I am an optimist that believes much will be done w/ the career after the Channel map shows up.

Yeah, to a certain extent. Period art, period music, period "color" articles in the paper (i.e. not paper images with current events in the background) even just period asthetics (i.e. the green and black of the career menu was arguably not a color combination you would have found much in 1910-1920 era decor). If its about WWI, make it look and sound like WWI on the ground as well as in the air.

Vander's St. Mihiel campaign did a nice job in terms of period pics and music. I would like to see more of that.

I'm not, despite they are good made, but these whole so called campaign are nothing more then separate missions, no total stats, no medals. You will start as a jasta13 pilot in a Fokker D7 and after a couple of these missions you have to go for the Ni-28 mission in US service and even jasta65 to continue your jasta13 missions. screwy
No I would suggest get the free ones before buying, with this missions you will stay to your own jasta/squadron/esc:

use Google translation in the txt files to make them readable

Keep in your mind these missions are made without the help of 777.

I would like to see more of that thing in the career mode . . . not a big fan of static campaigns myself.

A well done static campaign is way better than anything a computer algorithm can make.

I agree that a well done static campaign can do a better job of "telling a story". The problem is that the story will always be the same, and there is not much reason to replay it because you know how it turns out. Replay value is why a lot of us like flight sims, and static campaigns are just too linear for my taste.
