Many sims were made the "old way", ROF is showing a nice new modern looking!

I fundementally believe a campaign/career system interface for any game should reflect the game's ostensible theme and time period. RoF's does not.

What would make it reflect the time period? Background images from WWI? That's all previous WWI and WWII titles did.

We can argue over aesthetics forever. It won't be a useful discussion.

+1.

It's the meat and potatoes of the campaign that needs attention

True, but aesthetics are important, get you in the mood. Combat flight simming is all about experiance and a feeling of "being there" in my book. EAW had a career interface that made you feel like you were going from the barracks to the briefing room to the flightline (and I doubt it took all that many resources to create). SH 3/4 had something similar.

And it did not take 1-2 seconds to switch screens.

Shoot, even the TW sims have career interfaces that are both more immersive and more functional/intuitive than what we have in RoF.

RoF would be well served with something like that.

EAW and the TW series were by the same dev. And if RoF isn't especially immersive at east it isn't Il-2.

I know, and I agree . . . but doesn't mean it can't be improved (with a relatively low time/resource investment).

I think Nimits you hit the nail by the words "being there" That is what I still miss in the carreer mode from RoF!

I haven't been flying ROF that much lately. I am also waiting for the career mode to get some much needed love. I haven't bought the last 3 planes that have come out because they will just collect dust in the hangar as they wait for the career mode to be fleshed out. I'm not sure what 777 plans are for the career mode, so I am holding off on purchasing more planes until I find out if there will be a reason to fly them. Don't get me wrong, I have 26 planes in my hangar and know they need the support, but I need to know as an offline flyer that there will be a good reason to purchase more.

In addition to whats been said already, I think they need to put more planes in the air. The ROF engine seems well optimized and I can max out the number of planes in the quick battle and its buttery smooth. Would like to see more numbers in the air in career mode.

Ditto . . . my next aviation purchase will be either TW's SF2:NA or CloD with the Wick vs Dundas campaign while I wait for RoF career to improve.
