A pic of the card here...

I was wondering if it was possible to plug 5 screens one this one card? And will it go up in smoke? Basically, two monitors in the DVI, two on active port mini display adapters, but what about the HDMI one? Would it need an adapter as well?

Major pixel-pushing will be done on 3 main screens, a lower screen will drive extracted instrument gauges, switches and MFDs, and one side screen to display misc stuff like PDF checklists, TS3 window, etc.

Any ideas anyone?

EDIT: I'm not one who moans about getting less than 60++ fps, I'm perfectly happy with anything above 20 and can compromise on eye candy... so can I do 5 screens on one card?

Rest of the specs: i5 750 OC to 4.2GHz, Gigabyte P55-US3L, 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz, Win7 64-bit, 850W PSU, Samsung Spinpoing F3 HDD.

Thanks!

AMD Cards can only run 2 Non DisplayPort displays at once (so DVI DVI or DVI HDMI).

Its a limitation of the interface, which DisplayPORT doesnt have. (Independent Clock Generator for each screen)

Eyefinity 6 cards arent in production because you can use 1 miniDP1.2 Port and 1.2MST Hub to drive 3 displays, which is why all AMD 7000 Series cards come with 2 miniDP Ports.

(I Havent found such adapters yet)

I've read of people who have confirmed 4 monitors with a 6790, but over that it tends to run out of memory. I guess they were using active displayport adapters for those.

Sapphire's FleX architecture allows to drive three monitors from a single card with no adapters.

Very few models carry the option though...

Flex Carries an Onboard Chip to allow a 3rd Independent Clock for A 3rd screen without DP.

Sorry about the mess on the link.

Skate, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. I understand that the third monitor needs to be active DP adapter, but does that mean I can add a 4th monitor if I have another active DP adapter? And can I have a fifth on HDMI?

As you can see in the pic, the card has 2 DVI, 2 DP, and one HDMI. Is there any way I can use all of them?

Ice - I think just 4 unless it's Eyefinity6 or Flex, see

http://www.amd.com/us/products/technolog...w-many-monitors

http://forums.hexus.net/graphics-cards/221213-eyefinity-5-monitors-without-dp-monitors.html

You can have 2 DVI and then 2 on DisplayPort. The HDMI can't be used if you are using the two DVI as they share a clock. You can use extended mode (i.e. a CC group rather than single display) if you have another card.

Ok, The DVI and HDMI Share a Clock, the 2nd DVI has its own Clock, that takes up Both Independent clocks of the display (unless you have a FLEX card, which uses a Onboard chip to add independent display clocks.

The DisplayPorts dont require a independent clock, so they can operate up to 3 displays on each v1.2 port.

for 3 screen eyefinity on a non"Flex"/Eyefinity 6 card, you can only use 1 red and 1 blue connector, and the 3rd has to be display port.

technically the HDMI port can share its clock with either DVI Port to allow you to use either DVI port if already using DP and HDMI.

So you can run 2 DVI, DP, or HDMI, DVI, DP.

you can supposedly run extended desktop, but you WILL encounter issues.

And if I understand you correctly, I cannot plug in an HDMI and two DVIs since the HDMI and one DVI share a clock... but they don't both run at the same clock speed, correct?

If the two DP does not need independent clocks, can I then run 2 DPs and two DVIs = 4 monitors? Just to confirm what Fearless said...

Also, I have an old PCI-E card sitting about somewhere... is it possible to plug that one in my PC and use that to drive one or two more monitors? Just for showing PDF files or Teamspeak windows or some such, not real workload on it, but will two video cards (not crossfired!) of different types (both ATI though!) work nicely in one PC?
