New to CloD, a few questions.

After the release of Wicks vs Dundas, I decided to finally take the plunge and get CloD. Unsurprisingly, I now have a few questions about a few things that have arisen in my first experiences flying the Hurricane in the WvsD 111 Sqn campaign at full realism. 1- Is there a way to hide the "chat window" at the top left of the screen? It obscures the radio menu and makes it unusable (not that I can tell if radio commands actually work). 2- This might sound silly, but for the Hurri, which position should the levers be for fine pitch and rich fuel mixture? From what I can see the answer would be "forward" for both levers, but I just wanted to make sure. 3- Are flaps modeled properly for the hurricane? I'm just wondering as it seems there are 3 flap positions: Up, Neutral, and Down. Does UP mean fully retracted, Neutral at takeoff position, and Down fully deployed? 4- I can't for the life of me find the keybinding for opening the canopy. In which control listing is it located, and what's the default binding? That's all I can think of for now. Thank you. Itkovian

Here's another question: where do I set weapon convergence?
Thank you.

Weapon convergence is in the plane settings, after you've selected your plane, there will be a load out box on the bottom right. Click that, and it will take you to the menu for fitting your plane. On the first screen, you can change bomb-loads and fuel, and above the picture of your plane, you'll see tabs. Select the "Guns" tab, and you'll be able to change belt loading and weapon convergence, you'll have to uncheck the box for default convergence.
You might have to get online, and change the planes you want in MP servers first, save your loadout, and apply. At least, this was the way we had to do it prior to this latest patch, I haven't tested to see if they fixed that this beta patch or not.

Allright, thank you. That's one question done. Any thoughts on those in the OP? Itkovian

1- Is there a way to hide the "chat window" at the top left of the screen? It obscures the radio menu and makes it unusable (not that I can tell if radio commands actually work).
Alt right click the mouse gives you the option to close the info window, or edit/move it to somewhere more convenient. Many Radio commands are not working. A fix for this is in the works.
2- This might sound silly, but for the Hurri, which position should the levers be for fine pitch and rich fuel mixture? From what I can see the answer would be "forward" for both levers, but I just wanted to make sure.
Can't remember, I've mapped it to my HOTAS so never really check!
3. 3- Are flaps modeled properly for the hurricane? I'm just wondering as it seems there are 3 flap positions: Up, Neutral, and Down. Does UP mean fully retracted, Neutral at takeoff position, and Down fully deployed?
Not entirely sure TBH but this is how I use them and it seems to work fine.
4- I can't for the life of me find the keybinding for opening the canopy. In which control listing is it located, and what's the default binding?
Controls-Catagory-General IIRC, will edit when I get home if incorrect. You will find key bindings for open capopy, close canopy and toggle canopy. I use toggle canopy, it seems the easiest. BTW remember there are many unassigned keys in the default state of CloD including many useful ones so it's worth spending some time looking through them to find the one's you need. When you've made changes don't forget to press 'apply' or they will not take. Happy flying.

I find that I can open the canopy while in flight with the Spit and the Hurri, but toggle keystroke does not do it after landing?? Also, if I recall in the 109........the canopy does not open?? BadBud FaceBook: San Diego SimFlite club

The 109's canopy definitely opens, to me, it's not a landing until my engine is off, flaps back up, and canopy is opened. Maybe a OCD thing, but I have to open it when I land...

I actually did map the prop pitch and fuel mixture to my HOTAS (in fact all 4 levers, throttle, pitch, mixture, and radiator) are on various axis... but the problme is that still donest help tell me whihc direction is coarse/fine or rich/lean.
So for the hurri, which directions do coarse/fine pitch and lean/rich mixture map to (when looking at the levers in the cockpit)?
Thank you.

Itkovian Hi Itkovian, The levers are airplane dependent (DH5 or Rotol), with some discussion of that here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3560625/CEM_Engine_failure_or_user_err.htmlProp pitch forward would be fine with back as coarse. Mixture rich is forward, although I think the Hurricane cockpit texture has it labelled the wrong way around, i.e. it says 'Rich' at the back but that's not how it is.
