as i see it, the problem with arma series is that the scope of the game exceeds their ability to pay attention to details and creature dynamic hard coded engine features which handle things like physics, object penetration, detailed armor and ballistics...even things such as reload and recycle animations are extremely primitive by comparison. these details are not just visual niceties, they provide the all important immersion factor in simulations.

ironfront seems a lot more focused. and hopefully they don't get too ambitious and put in too much, spreading thin their resources, and sabotaging their own ability to provide depth.

it's really interesting to see that picture of t34 smashing into a pak gun. it looks like the troops prepared a furrow in the earth to hide the cannon.

I agree. Make a smaller but complete game. And make the patching/installation process more straight forward. I've spend over an hour trying to make Arrowhead work and I still can't get it to load.

The screens look great... and I'm getting it as soon as released...

about ArmA2 comments:

and if they made the game "a smaller but complete" game... then it wouldn't be ArmA2... it would be just like all the other games on the market.

ArmA2 is not for everyone, but most who play it think it's one of the greatest tactical battlefield games out there.

So hijacking someones thread about this game using the ArmA2 engine about what you don't like about ArmA2, is uncalled for.

SO>>> "stay on target"

After playing RO2 since the beta I've come to pin all my hopes on this game.

If it does what it promises then it will beat RO2 hands down...I just hope it does and takes off...

Still hoping it gets finished, it will finally make a reality what the WWII mods have teased us with all of these years!

Bit of an update. I exchanged email with my contact at X1, and he said they were still hard at work on it, and it is in Beta right now.

So it is still planned to happen.

Thanks for the update Doug, it is much appreciated. This is a really interesting sim - especially for those that like the realism of Arma2.
