Hi Gents,

I just saw ‘Red Tails’, a big budget Hollywood film about the Tuskegee Airmen.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485985/

In the film, when an ace gets a bandit on his six, he pulls this manoeuvre where he chops the throttle and pulls back on the stick and the aeroplane levitates to one side, stops moving, swings around onto the bandit and goes into turret mode where you can blast passing fighters. I’ve tried this on Rise of Flight and all I get is a stall and an arse full of lead.

As Hollywood never lies, there is OBVIOUSLY a serious fault in Rise of Flights flight model. Jason, please fix this straight away. biggrin

Spoon.

P.S. Some pilots may get confused between the intricacies of the ‘Red Tails’ chop the throttle/pull back on the stick ‘Spinning turret of death’ and the completely different ‘Top Gun’ chop the throttle/pull back on the stick ‘Stop in mid flight until he passes’ manoeuvre. Seriously, if you can’t see the HUGE differences in control inputs to implement these two manoeuvres you shouldn’t be the virtual skies! smile

Man, I stopped watching that movie after about half an hour. It was worse than Pearl Harbor if you can believe that.

You see Total your problem is that you were watching a WWII movie and trying to relate it to WWI a/c in RoF.

That will not work!

Solution = rent Fly Boys as the maneuvers in that film are 100% accurate - I swear.

yep

They are! I get all my kills online by letting Dr.I's shoot me to pieces and then giving the enemy pilot a smoking hole in the forehead with my .45 when he pulls up beside me to gloat. biggrin
