Great looking game and great review. But and nevertheless I would like to know more regarding Co-op, specially which content does this game come with, namelly how many Co-op missions came originally with the game?

BTW, are you sure that the Soviet campaign isn't playable in co-op? I'm asking this because in the Soviet campaign menu screenshot in the review it's clear that the "HOST" button is selectable.

If you played ArmA2... you'll know how the co-op works... but included is 8 or so co-op plus the editor that people will make missions, just like with our ArmA2 server... we will have similar IF missions after release.

and yes I'm sure... i asked that question after seeing that too... it's confirmed single player only... click on the host and you'll crash. lol wink

Excellent preview! A quick question though: I saw that you highlighted foxholes and entrenchments. Any chance that you can dig one on your own accord, or must it be placed there before hand by modders?

Well, I have to say that I wasn't interested in this game in the first place. But the preview definitely makes this game sound interesting now. Will keep an eye out for this.

Very comprehensive preview. Thank you for going through it.
I am wondering about the scripting commands. Can we use the database of commands that we have for Arma2 OA. Is there going to be an addendum to the list:Flashpoint, Arma, Arma2, Arm2 OA? smile

I love Arma. But its biggest problem, which will be more so in the WW2 version, is the armor damage model. Its hit point based instead of round size/velocity verses armor thickness/angle. Makes for some very unbelievable results.

As it is right now with the e.g ASR AI mod, Arma2 OA is pretty good on Artificial Inteligence level and with a little secondary scripting missions have become an enjoyable and fair challenge. It is a matter of time before Iron Front gets there if not there already.
This is indeed very exciting smile
Thank you guys

I'm curious, they did a lot of work to improve tanks damage model, but what about the simulation and graphics? Tanks have 3d interiors? Did they changed tanks handling, aiming, etc?

interior... NO

3d... NO

Handling.... Yes and No... same principle as tank driving in ArmA2, but the handling is tuned and more realsitic... proper speeds, no more tank power slides to the extreme. lol

Too bad frown

After playing all those flight sims with nice VCs I guess I'm biased. I just love detailed cockpits wink I'll get this game anyway though.

Well tank combat is very much improved over the ArmA2 series... but understand that this is NOT like SB Pro PE or Steel Fury... tank wise. wink

and it's also NOT a flight sim.

I am aware it's not dedicated flight or tank sim, I'm not expecting that, and I'm familiar with Arma series. 3d interiors just adds more immersion, that's why I've asked.

Improved tank combat is enough to have a lot of fun.

QUESTION:

Will I have to purchase an extra copy to host a dedicated server ?

Great preview guys! Thanks.

One of the only FPS games that lived on my PC longer than a couple of months was the Call of Duty edition (2 or 3?) where you could drive tanks for the first time. I loved those little claustrophic multiplayer tanking maps, probably because they were small enough that I could actually master the kill zones and learn where the best cover was. World of Tanks seemed like too much work, scooting around in little scouts unless you were willing to buy your way into something heavy. But this might just lure me back into the world of steel beasts...

Just one thing I could not completely glean from your piece - does it take a crew of three to man a tank in multiplayer, or can one player manage?

I think that was United Offensice Heinkill. Very cool in MP with the 'bigger ' maps and a bunch of guys that knew what they were doing.

Given the very large maps, dynamic AI and battlefield, how worthwhile if I were to buy this exlcusively for Single Player and Single Player Mission editing/creation ? Is there provision for the latter aspect ?

Part of the problem for me to engage in SimHQ MP is ping and timezones.

Does anyone have any details on the DRM requirement. I'm not starting a debate in any way but just hoping the game ships with
built in protection and not the internet activation rout.
Grateful for any info as I'd like to have this game.

Thanks in advance

The Beta is the same as Arma 2. You get a long authentication number to key in while connected to the Internet for the first use, then they leave you alone.

Any plans for a SimHQ server/group similar to the MMs? I'm totally excited about this, but as I never really learned ArmA2, I'm looking for a group I can learn from.

Just pre-ordered from Play.com.£14.95 free delivery.

My only reservation is that I could not get on very well with Arma2 but the subject matter of Iron Front is what I like.

Am I likely to enjoy it I wonder?
