Hey All,

Awhile back I bought a Windows 7 upgrade disc and upgraded my Vista that came with my machine and everything went fine. Now I'm thinking about re-format and re-install from my upgrade disc. Since it already activated fine on this machine before, will I have any issues? I want to just pop in the disc, re-format and then activate online again. Will it recognize my serial number is ok since I have not changed my mobo? Isn't the serial number tied to the mobo?

Thanks!

It should work. I do it "all the time". I also do clean new installs using "upgrade" disks.

If it finds no trace of an old OS, sometimes, it won't work first time -- but, often it does. If it does not work, then there is a "procedure" to follow -- which has always worked for me. Microsoft put in the procedure because Vista and Windows 7 could not upgrade some XP installations -- rather, they have to be "clean installs". So, Microsoft allows for that.

Procedure
