I appreciate the help. It sometimes happens that a later driver set somehow fixes the problems, probably more by accident than on purpose. Perhaps that will happen, or a new utility will appear to correct it.

Had another go at this, and while somewhat randomly resetting D3D Windower settings, I got it ALMOST working. My Windower Settings are shown at the end of this post.

What works: Menu is fine...no corruption. I can go into INSTANT ACTION and everything looks great!!

What doesn't work: Trying to choose a SINGLE MISSION brings up the Aircraft Selection, then the Single Mission screen , but trying to get into any of the sub-screens (LOADOUT, MISSION DETAILS etc..) causes a CTD. This happened with the stock planeset, the ETO1 Planeset and the DAW planeset.

Running 1.28E with the mods from Mr. Jelly (though I haven't updated them since downloading back in May).


Also, I saw a ScreenShot elsewhere in the forum of an opening Splash Screen with a big left hand pane saying EAW 1.28. I do not get that screen, but, in the lower left it does say 1.28E (Update 4).

In the Graphics Setup, I have options for Software and GLide. The D3D option is grayed out. I selected GLIDE (have Zeckensack's wrapper running) but when I go back to the setup screen, it has reverted to Software. Looks quite good in Instant action, so if this is truly Software, I am fine with it.

Any ideas on what I can do maybe some tweak to D3DWindower settings?..I am ALMOST there.

Inexplicably, everything started working. The only remaining issue is that on the Mission Briefing screen, the text shows up briefly and then the screen goes dark...everything else seems to work!

Now to learn to overcome my dismal ability to control a prop driven aircraft!
