My father has this installed and it wont run, after starting a mission it says that it couldn't find some file. My question is where is the OFF file supposed to reside? CFS is in C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/CFS but OFF is installed in C:/. It seems to me that this is wrong but I don't know the program can anyone here with a Win7 install tell me if this is right?

Did you patch cfs to 3.1 before installing OFF?

Yes, and again and again and sometimes it works though weirdly like a Dr.I when you pick a Sop.Pup

Sounds like a faulty disk, especially if then exploded!

When you have a working disk you need to carefully follow all the correct install procedures, and settings for Win7 (on our FAQ page) (starting near the top).

If you are "Joe" then we are already talking to you in support - if not contact support please with your order number and we'll help (See FAQ).

Yes, Joe is my Dad, and he told me that your support was prompt and helpful - much better than the other title he bought, some pro pilot sim which I won't go into.

Haven't been over in a day or two, he said you sent him a DL of 3 zipped files but they are all the same file (?) I'm not sure about that but it was only good for 24 hrs so maybe we'll just wait on the disc. He has a lot of anti-anti-virus going on his PC so who knows, I'll have to get over there to see what it is he's Downloading but I got a chuckle when he told me that some correspondence said if he had a problem let his son do it, winkngrin Too many companies out there selling people on needing a bunch of protection software till the only thing that will run is the anti-virus.

KRT, once you and your dad got it installed okay, and you get another similar problem
sometime later, then you must NOT automatically de-install the whole OFF plus CFS3.

Go to "Workshops" then and try this button first:

"Reset OFF Manager"

If it still won't work, try (only then) also "Reset CFS3"

These two have saved me two or three times from the whole deinst./reinst. proceedure.

Hi KRT_Bong,

I think he got the 3 main files oK - but it was a several mails to get there. However the final tiny file I sent had the correct link typed in the email, but it linked to one of the other files (no idea how I simply cut and paste into the email).

Anyway I sent him a new link for that last tiny file which was fine (downloaded fine here too). The emails he sent were a little confusing but I think he has all the files there now. If not get him to send a mail if you are going round there and we can link to any missing the files again.

Otherwise yes best wait for the DVD I think smile

This is a very advisable chance to take most times, you WILL lose all your Pilots, and you'll need to reconfigure in Workshop.

But it saves alot of time if it works

If it doesn't work the pilots are History plus you need to configure anyway

Got the new disc and have the same problems, it would eventually start after telling me it couldn't find some files and then in a CFS3 style gui with either an EIII or a DrI, somehow Google Chrome got installed and bunches of file associations were changed and after resetting and trying everything decided to do a reformat and re-install of Windows and get everything in clean before all the protection software (there were 75 running processes)decides to fubar everything. Will let you know how this works out.

Hi KRT,

Sounds more like the PC has disk corruption or maybe a virus / spyware etc - we certainly do not install Google chrome or anything of the sort! Also did you run the OFF Manager (not cfs3.exe) ?. Total clean sounds like the best idea. OFF works on 1000s of PCs so should work fine for you with a clean setup and if you follow the instructions in the FAQ - near the top is the first steps.

Best to contact support if you need help.

Cheers

Noo, I meant that he already had that sort of thing we all know better to untick all those things but stuff happens.
We are following the FAQ but still having some issues; Track-Ir, game dumping instantly to desktop after starting to fly, just weird. I'm trying to figure out what the issue is, maybe a driver. At least it's starting up, and with the right plane.

KRT, you should also check your memory perhaps?
How much do you have?
Is it all still okay and working?

Everything is fixed game works correctly, reinstalled cfs3 and got Track-Ir working and the other problem was a resolution conflict.

And now we're back to the same problems again, keeps getting a message about missing registry files. I have CFS3 (2 CD's) and I tried the install here because we have similar PC's the only difference is He's Nvidia and Mine's ATI.
I installed CFS to C:/ rather than Program Files and added OFF, it worked first time through without patches so I don't know if that could have anything to do with it. For him it keeps changing resolution to the point he can't see the buttons and quits when it can't find some file or config, I never liked CFS3 and I'm uninterested in playing it, I have way too many sims as it is but I fly modded Il-2 and did a lot of beta testing for HSFX so I understand what mods do and this is baffling. I'll be going by there this afternoon, probably going to clean it out and start all over, then I'm going to make a restore point. Hopefully that will get this resolved.

Remember to patch CFS3 to v3.1, before you install OFF.

I also didn't like CFS3, but what OFF did with that engine is incredible.

Sorry missed this comment here, also check his screen DPI settings, see the FAQ as that can cause buttons to go off screen etc. If his resolution keeps changing doesn't sound good maybe driver or video issues?
Also check hard drive for any glitches errors.

Q23. I can not get past the OFF intro movie, after that I see a sepia background but no buttons at bottom of screen?

A23. Go to your desktop and right click on it somewhere empty, select Display Properties. Click Advanced. Change the DPI settings from whatever it is to 120 or 96.
Try OFF again. It may need a reboot first. Otherwise is could be a problem with Windows media player. or video codecs installed. Some have found renaming OFF-MOVIE.WMV to some other name in C:\OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\Videos\ allows the menu to load.

Also best to go via support if you have issues when you are there rather than here which is slower or can be missed as above.
