I've seen several posts recently about how long CoD has been in development. All of them seem mention a period of 7 years. Well I can remember being present at a Flight Sim convention in Birmingham where Oleg himself announced that the next sim would be based on the Battle of Britain. And that was in 2002 or 2003. Now I'm sure that some preliminary development would have taken place before the announcement. Therefore, I reckon CoD has been in development for closer to 10 years! And with the latest patch proving to be a bit of a flop so far, it seems it might be another 10 years before we get a half decent BoB sim out of the ashes of CoD. Or not!

Just saying. wave

The patch is working quite well for me. I suspect that we'll see a fairly polished version within two years my dear... wink

Not quite.

You do remember that orginal IL2 was released in 2001? After that there where Forgotten Battles, Pacific Fighters, Manchuria, IL2 1946 (might have forgotten some) and a gazillion patches in between.

Its not like they where working full tilt on CloD all that time. wave

Well, at least their consistent then, they're already working on the sequel, so they aren't working full time on fixing this game either.

Exept what you said is the exact opposite of what i said wink

Not defending current state mind you, cause that is a complete "%!%"&//%&((/#¤. No one can argue with that, and thats comming from someone who allways been the patient type when it comes to CloD.

But hey, now, at least, people have something new to be #%#%#&&#& about, kind of refreshing if you ask me biggrin

I never know whether to admire the CLOD faithful, or make fun of them. biggrin

I have heard this said many times but always wondered why anyone would want to catch a monkey.........and what would you do with it if you did ?

Anyhoo, 7 years, 10 years, whatever. One poster will tell you this is quite normal for a mind bendingly uber sim like CoD and the other will tell you that they are load of Russian bandits who scammed the entire simming world and laughed all the way to the bank the whole way through. The truth is more likely to be that there were the best of intentions that ran into mainly project management related issues followed by a 'stop talking to me in binary and get it out of the door' conversation, probably with somebody in an expensive suit from Ubi. Its so in the mists of time I can't really remember but wasn't development of Storm of War (as it was then) halted so that the development team could help with Pacific Fighters ? I bet the irony in that one is not lost on Luthier now.
