Well at least they gave us something to play with and give some feedback on finally. I will leave mine as is and wait for a better effort.

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011

I had my first game freeze. The ATAG guys say they've been flying for hours with no CTD's, although that could change. They did say that people who downloaded from a mirror site were having problems. I had Steam verify and fix my install and downloaded this time from the SimHQ mirror, if that doesn't work I'll try IC's site. I'll see what happens tomorrow when I have time to test the beta patch again.

Is FPS really this valuable to you guys?
The overall experience without this alpha/beta patch is way better IMO.
"No" clouds, blurry textures on ground/cockpit and missing textures (see through hydraulic lines) for a few FPS?
Guess I'm the odd one then.
Only issue graphics wise I have is particles on take-off, and they are still there.
Feels like hard-coded what a user could achieve through settings and some textures ripped out.
Amazing.

This Alpha/Beta is a step back in terms of graphical quality for me, FPS wise it is faster but marginally so (never had much complaint about FPS anyway). Offline CTD's appear cured which is great, haven't tried online yet. I am going to put some time in today and tomorrow to try and help the bug killing.

Personally I am going to stick it out but in my own mind I can hear 'Nearer my God to Thee' so far as this game is concerned. Not having a go but it is so obvious that this thing is way, way behind anything else I have on my PC (including '46). RoF makes it look like a bad joke.

look for the steamapps/common folder. That's where the game folder (where the files should go) should be.

I went on ATAG last night and I did get the CoD.exe crash but, No missing textures, no blurry dials, I can look at clouds and trees, buildings with high textures, tracers, explosions and no visible frame hit. I think a lot of you might want to clear the caches, reset you vidcard settings and try a few tweaks before you get too upset. Yes, it is an Alpha patch, Beta game yada, yada but this is a chance to get all of our machine settings collated into something tangible for the devs to work on. If it's not something you want to participate in fine, but we can do a lot here to help and that means sending in log files, I would love to know why people like me with my machine specs are doing fine while others with better rigs are having issues.

Just finished testing the patch on my rig, having never had too many problems with the micro stutter before with the detail level turned down a bit. Strangely enough I seem to get them now after the patch. Also started getting crashed I didn't have before. Of course, I realise it's early days for the patch, if not the sim. I really hope that they can fix all that is broken, I really want to love this game and they are making it so damned hard to do so!

Anyhoo, logs sent, lets hope they do the right thing by us smile

I tested the patch and I got a bit more fps. smile However, the stutters are there still, which was my main bummer, launcher crashes every time if res is different from desktop and the shimmering is way worse and truly hideous even at high resolutions. So net for me is a few fps for lower graphics quality. What a disappointment. frown

Not tried online yet...but so far its *Debbie Downer* not great, now remember they have taken out the medium and long range clouds, so that may explain the FPS increase, particles still causing the FPS drop, plus stutters...im not sure this has been a "major graphic rewrite" and more a tweak and stall tactic.

Still smoke and mirrors from Luthier for me, oh and the mirrors still dont work, no AA or AF.

I hope the retail doesn't take another 6 months to fix the multitude of problems from before and the new added ones.

Exactly what I found and I agree.
