I'd go ahead an instll it, what works good for one system might not for yours, and vice versa. I didn't have a lot of CTD's in the last patch, at least not after I upgraded my system, but so far the issues I've found in the new version are minor inconveniences. At least, it's really easy to go back to the stock version from the Beta patch, just ask Steam to verify local files.

Just tried online and had the dreaded CTD after 20 mins on my first sortie.

It used to be about 45mins and now its 20mins so that's improved then....6 months for this?

Stutters worse.
FPS slightly improved but no clouds.
Ground textures worse.
Blurry dials.
Sound odd.
Plane textures on 109 all blocky.
No decals.
Particles cause MAJOR FPS drop STILL.

But by far the most disappointing aspect is the online CTD is NOT FECKING FIXED!!!

Sums it up pretty good.
Is it really a new graphics engine?
Is it the same as before with some fps hogs disabled such as clouds?
Beats me but sure looks bad, really bad.

As you were told by IC, it is an alpha patch and not an RC or even beta.

I know its a Alpha patch, but if they haven't fixed the online CTD in 6 months of coding, its not going to happen in the next month is it?

Maybe sending in the crashlog file you have will help them? Worth a shot..

Yeah I remember reading that too about the Black Death track. Luthier or Black6 posted a while back that the new patch would not make it a good benchmark anymore.

Framerate wise, clod runs quite well with the patch. I've got the blurry dials too though. I couldn't read the compass so I landed my spit in France ... everyone laughed as I was hauled off to captivity.
