I received an invitation to attend and photograph the delivery of the final F-22 Raptor to the USAF yesterday morning. The event took place at the Lockheed Martin Factory in Marietta, GA. Here are a few of the shots of the F-22A Raptor #4195 delivery ceremony.

Raptor 4195 greeted the media upon arrival

The ceremony is underway. Gotta like the projection on the inside of the hangar door.

Lt. Colonel Paul "Max" Moga receives the "keys" to Raptor #4195 from General Norton A. Schwartz, Chief of Staff, USAF. By the way, if you saw the Raptor perform at an airshow during 2007-2008, Max was the demo pilot.

The hangar door slowly opens to reveal the gleaming Raptor

Raptor 4195, shiny & new, is now the property of the USAF. The full gallery with large images can be found at: http://www.aviationbuff.com/AviationPhot...22765690_7bMS92

Great stuff Chris, what an opportunity!

I remember seeing "Max" on quite a few Military channel shows.

The Raptor has taken a long time to grow on me, very menacing looking bit of hardware. Great shots thumbsup

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011

How many does that make, about 200? First one in 2005? Boy, compare that to World War Two production, when over 15,600 P-47's were turned out.

Same here. I was always biased towards the 1970s aircraft. (F-14, F-15, F-16 etc) She's a sexy looking beast though.

I suppose with all the emphasis on drone technology now, I guess the F-22 & F-35 will be the last of their generation.

F-16s were mostly '80s. I'm sure you meant to say A-10s...lol.

I was surprised when I got the invite and it really was a great opportunity to see the final ceremony.

I wonder if the brass is thinking twice after our loss of the intact drone to Iran.

The F-22 is a damn good looking airplane. The best looking plane in years IMHO.

I hope we never risk our hard won air superiority to drones.

And you don't think that was planned? ...

Loose one old technology drone to the enemy and let them think that's the best you have while you field more recent tech ? Would make sense...

Never liked the lines of the Raptor much, probably never will. I find the F-35 far sexier. Come to think of it, I've always preferred multi-role American fighters to their role-specific counterparts, aesthetically speaking at least : P-47 over P-51, F4U over F6F, P-39 over P-38, F-4 over the Dart series, F-16 over F-15, and now F-35 over F-22... Notable exceptions include the F-86 and F-14 biggrin

Cheers

Nico
