Hwy All,

I was looking to get a UPS for my Virtual Simulator.. I am wondering what I need to know to purchase one for my needs.. I know my PC has a 1100w PSU and my 3 DLP Projectors I am not sure..

But I would need it too run my PC, Specs in sig and 3 DLP Projectors for at least 15minutes If the power fails so I can shut everything off.. the Projectors take about 3-5 minutes to shut completely off as the fan runs after shutdown to Cool the bulbs..

I have had some power outages and would like to get a UPS to Help Protect my Investment.. Now I would like to know How do I determine what wattage I will need for the UPS??

I would also like to know of some good brand names to get or look out for?? Basically I am not too knowledgable but would like to be better educated in making a educated purchase on a Decent UPS..

There's a calculator for that, and this one is from the big name in Uninterruptable Power Supply: http://www.apc.com/tools/ups_selector/

You'll have to do some calculating yourself for the beamers and with 1200W between the 3 of them, will require half of the UPS power.

Well that Calculator seems out of date?? When I select the UPS as for the wattage do I calculate the Wattage of all to be hooked up to the UPS??

So at 300W for each Projector and about 700 for the PC I would need to get a 1600Watt UPS??

Well those UPS systems are designed for PC's; so they won't actually power much anything else. You don't want to actually use the UPS to power the projectors, just the fans; so in theory it should still work as long as they actually shut off

There is no LCD display in the sig, so at least one has to be running for 15 minutes?

Doesnt the UPS come with software that will do a controlled shut-down when the UPS detects a power outage?

OK I am NO rocket scientist but Power is power as long as it can supply the Watts and the voltage it should be sufficent to use for the Projectors too??

I did do a year of Digital Electronices in 11th grade so I do have a basic understanding of this stuff so it should power the projectors as well.. I have know people hook up their LCD Screens to them why should a Projector be any different..??

I will have to buy these ltr as of now it is gonna be a costly thing I would need 2 of these in at least 1000w range..

Thnx for the help but I am not going to get these any time soon because of the cost and I have other plans before these..
