Wanted to get on for some co-op last night, but ended up not being able to do so. I did get to spend time in the campaign though, which is so far brilliant!
The game is primarily a stealth game, interspersed with areas you get to get in a lot of shooting. You could approach it as a full-on shooter, but it would diminish the game.
I played a section where you infiltrate a V-2 rocket facility. You sneak onto the base and take out the enemy soldiers by sneaking up for a Splinter Cell-like neck snap, your silenced pistol, or you can fire your rifle or Thompson when there's a loud cover noise (indicated on screen). However, you need to pick up and hide the bodies to avoid risk of detection. Even the last Splinter Cell didn't let you pick up dead bodies to hide, so this is pretty nice. Inside the base, you're to plant 3 charges. You can hang out in an area with a lot of cover noise and take out soldiers, but you can't get them all. Firing the rifle in other areas alerts everyone to your presence. Best to sneak around for the most part. You're rewarded with a "defend your position" shootout after that.
The game is excellent and very open. I don't know how long it is, but it should be pretty replayable to get better with the missions and various ways to get through them. Ubisoft needs to get this and play it as an example of how Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon should play out.

I agree that it's a great game... got both PC and 360... but disagree on the replayability... and I didn't feel it was that open, looks open... but your still fed down a set path. IMO

Agree with Magnum, what I've played so far hasn't been open at all. Does it get more open as you go? I can see replaying it a few times to try new ways to kill enemies or get better scores though.
Pretty fun so far, but give me a week with it and I'll be playing something else.

So it's released for the Xbox 360?

I went in, he said delayed, I said... no... he checked, in last night, I was right. first 2 missions down and damn fine gme...and no online pass or key code, sweet... also, if you pre-ordered, kill Hitler extra mission too download, but also, on 360 version at least, go into downloads,2 excellent, informative download vids... Look for me for co-op or private match.

"Very open"...yeah, that's an overstatement, more of a feeling compared to the other shooters these days I suppose. The V2 facility was fairly open though, the outside area and then inside area. You might not have a huge area to work with, but more than just a single hallway path like in COD's SP. You have a choice of hitting the objectives how you want, not just all in a sequence so you have to fight your way through. I do wish it had a regular save system instead of checkpoints. There are areas I'd like to replay differently, just to experiment.
I think the lack of iron sights for the pistol and SMG was a gameplay decision to keep people from turning it into an average shooter. The idea is stealth, traps and sniping. If the other guns were more effective, people would be more likely to run and gun. I'd like to have them for the pistol at least, but with the limited range of these guns, you don't really need them.

Am I right to assume it has single player and 2 player coop but no real multi player?

On console, that's correct. PC has MP.
