Started playing The Witcher 2 again and is such a lovely looking RPG with the best combat in any RPG and great music, voice-acting and story. Far improved with the recent Enhanced Edition patch too.

Ooops, don't know how that one got in there....... exitstageleft

I like the fog/haze. Would look good in a WW2 jungle or Vietnam FPS/tactical shooter.

Go here http://www.gog.com/en/witcher2/backup/ Zero Niner and download the full EE rather than trying to patch it as there are problems doing that and I couldn't get it to work either. This way you get the GOG version which is DRM free.

Installed the EE version as well and used it as an opportunity to try the game again. But I simply can’t get into it. Technically, it’s undoubtedly a great game. But I don’t like the game design.

It’s nonetheless a great looking game with some outstanding cinematics, I agree on that.

Zero Niner, try Mace's tip. I couldn't download the EE patch either. Always hung up and dropped my internet connection. I did his way and it works. Takes awhile but its a complete and stable download.

My performance however is still so so.

You also get 2.8Gb available as a separate download of a guide, soundtrack, videos, art book, wallpapers etc. pretty good.

I don't know why you're still getting a bad performance Coot, same card as me.

Got it on both PC and Xbox 360. Easily one of the best RPGs for storytelling, acting and things like that.

Far better than a certain Sci-Fi RPG released recently by a company I won't name... stirthepot biggrin

Wait till you get to the ending wink They'll have to be compared as series (if comparable at all), so we'll need to wait for The Witcher 3 to come out. They also made some drastic changes to the graphics and game play from the first game, and went with choices not everybody was happy with, so in terms of evolution, they're pretty much running down the same path.

That said The Witcher is indeed a great RPG series. I really like the dark and gritty world they created, by far the most realistic I've ever seen in a medieval fantasy game or movie. Instead of making a fantasy world in which everybody goes along like best chumps, they simply injected magic, mutants and Elder Races in a realistic medieval society.
Some thought Skyrim was a "dark and violent place, torn apart by internal conflicts" but it's just a family theme park compared to Temeria/Pontar Valley's stinky, brutal hell hole.

Va fail !

I brought this the weekend too and I'm finding it one of the best rpg's I've ever played but its bloody hard!, also the tutorial doesn't exactly tell you everything you need to know about the mechanics of the game. I also brought Sniper elite 2,Batman Arkham city, and transformers war for cyberton ( thank you weekend sale on steam lol )
