I bought it because ED has done nothing but spectacular work, and I wish to support them. My 1 hour of stick time review:

The P-51 is beautiful, both visually and FM wise. That new sound engine is something! The first time I hit F3 it really blew me away!

As far as price, comparing it to some of the add-ins for FSX, this is not unreasonable. Fidelity and controls wise, it certainly is right at the top of the heap as far as systems modeling (would expect nothing else from the producers of A-10). Plus, you can shoot things!

I am still concerned at not having other period content, will pretty much limit combat activities to mud moving, especially tragic for the Mustang . . . no real reason to go up high nor much to do while you are up there.

Just flying around in it is a treat though, I will get my moneys worth out of it just learning the systems and how to fly it well.

But holy cow, the engine sound when you so a flyby is something!

My norton is complaining about the dcs world.exe. Get a ws.reputation.1 alert and norton removes the file. I've tried to read up on it but the criteria for the threat are quite vague. So, does anyone else have this issue? I've thought about waiting a while and checking the file again. Perhaps an increase in user numbers will remove the high risk rating.

Yeah, I can confirm that. I've not talked to Norton about it (odds of prompt reply... bad :P ), but I've satisfied myself that it's just a false positive based on a heuristic. I told Norton to ignore the file and restore it, and then everything went swimmingly and Norton hasn't found anything on the scans it has done after install.

I have a good hint a what the answer will be BUT, does someone knows if they plan to release the upgrade for BS2 and A-10 before, at the same time, or after the P-51 is released?

So let me get this straight, It's $39.99 for a complete Download and you don't have to own any DCS title? and if you do own BS, BS2, A-10 or FC2 it installs into one of those?

Yep...sort of... the download includes the new DCS common flight sim, called "DCS World". The P-51 addon installs as part of that, and the basic "World" sim comes with an SU-25T - nothing else yet. Apparently patches are forthcoming which will incorporate BS2 and A-10C if you have those already, but as of now they are still separate sims.

To back up Ruhroh, the P-51 is a great flyer smile Possibly the best representation of a warbird in a PC sim yet.

Giving away the flyable SU-25T (the one from FC2) with the base 'DCS World' is actually really generous. The download for P-51 (a torrent file only, I've uploaded about 20GB last night alone - yay, community wink ) contains both the free 'DCS World' beta and the P-51 'module' beta (which asks for a serial number before a flight). Even if you don't have a serial key for the P-51 then you still get to see its missions and an external view of the model, i.e. they've disabled the cockpit but left everything else I think.

DCS World eh? What they should have done from the start!

Is there any plan to have a DCS World that doesn't require buying P-51?
