Hi all
Getting ready to pull the trigger on a new vid card. Would love to get my first high end video card since my Voodoo2 12mb job, but not sure if I can justify it.
I was thinking of going with a GTX 570 or a Radeon 7870. I want the Nvidia card for the Adapative VSync feature.
Anyone here have a GTX 680 and can sway me it is good for CLOD and ROF as well as Warthog?
Thanks

Try asking ATAG_Snapper over at the CloD forum. He's just upgraded to a 680, and he's a pretty helpful person to talk to.

I have the 570 for over a year now, it`s a good card. Remarkably quit even under load.
Runs CLOD okayish (getting generally good FPS but some stuttering, VRAM is saturated), ROF runs fine on my system in 1080P.

I got a 570 in October and had a 8800gts for physics and two extra screens. Got a 680 last month and use the 570 for physics and the extra 2 screens untill I hook all three to the 680. I normally game with the middle 1680x1050 monitor. For Il2 CoD, RoF and DCS A10 the 680 is a bit overkill right now. It runs maybe 10% faster than the 570 in those games and the 570 one was pretty smooth to begin with. It's a bit cooler and quieter though. If you don't plan on going super high resolutions or use multiple monitors the 570 will do the job for about halve the price.

IMO going to a GTX 570 or HD 7870 wouldn't be worth it for the performance gain if you're already using 2x5770 cross-fired...I would say at least a GTX 680 just so you would notice some improvement, and because of less power/heat

Thanks everyone.
I am thinking of upgrading as I find that not too many of my games run much faster using my 2X5770, except for maybe Metro 2033. Warthog and Blackshark run pretty good on just one card.
I think I have narrowed down to a 7870 or a GTX 570.
Man, I would love to get a GTX 680, but not sure "The Boss" would see that a $500+ card is necessary and I can't use the future proofing claim, as I am sure in 1-2 years it will be obsolete.

Have you not heard of the 'silent upgrade'? If my boss knew how much I really spent on my rig, well..... Don't tell them how much, and blind her with science if she asks what the latest little parcel is. Oh and always use your own account, never the joint one!

Well I got the okay and I am going to be getting an Asus GTX 680 from NCIX. There are none in stock at the moment, so not sure how long it will be before I get the card, but I've waited this long.
