78th Fighter Group, "Above the Foe"
~Salute!~ All,
The 78th Fighter Group is an online full realism 8th Air Force historical based unit of pilots all over the world, predominately flying the P-38 Lightning, P-40 Warhawk, P-47 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang the 78th strives in the use of tactics and teamwork. Operated like an actual WWII U.S. Fighter Group a pilot is placed within a Squadron when recruited by the Group, the pilot then will be assigned to a Squadron that fits the time zone of their preference. The 78th FG was the fifth highest scoring Fighter Group out of the 15 that made up the 8th Air Force Fighter Command flying out of RAF Duxford. Our goal is to bring back history, develop friendships and fly in a realism manner. We're even in contact with personnel of the 78th Fighter Group from WWII, one of them being Lt.Col. Richard Hewitt who flew 144 combat missions with the 82nd Fighter Squadron scoring four air to air victories.
What do we offer?
-Implementing the formations, tactics and radio communications in organized combat operations in an organized fashion. Pilots are also provided their own custom skins painted in the markings of the 78th Fighter Group. Friendship, realism, communications, tactics is what makes the 78th Fighter Group an enjoyable home for pilots joining the unit.
