Too much marketing talk, too little detail for me (not Epstein, the interview partner). The guy kind of sounds as if he worked off a list of 'things to say during interview'.

No cockpits (sorry, that "sniper view" sounds like rubbish) = Deal breaker.

The unlimited ammo loadouts sound a bit disturbing, OK 3x reality, but that's almost unlimited ammo in my book.

Epstein?! lol

Wargaming.net has never even insinuated World of Warplanes will be a realistic flight simulator but has advertised their new product as an "MMO action game". Accurate loadouts, high-fidelity physics models, and realistic damage models need not apply. If you're one of those "it's either a sim or it's a <harumph>game" fliers, World of Warplanes is, in fact, a game and there has never been any confusion about that from day one.

That said, for a "mere" game, WoWP looks like it will be a lot of fun: instant action, lots of it, different types of aircraft with different missions, upgrades, experience and skill points, and great visuals for an alpha project.

I am an unabashed buttonophile who dies a little inside every time I hear someone using the auto-start cheat in the DCS series, but I'm looking forward to WoWP. Hop in by yourself for some mad melee action or join up with some friends and fly coordinated wingman/section tactics. Since this game doesn't presume to be "real", the suspension of disbelief is pretty easy to do. And, best of all, it's at my favorite price: FREE!

Read the interview, see their website, watch the preview videos, and judge for yourself but when comparing it to other titles remember: this is a game, not a high-fi simulation, and it never pretended otherwise.

Opps - sorry for the misspelling.

I have no qualms with the type of game, I just thought for example the way he avoided to answer your "will there single player stuff" question was like a politican. It didn't sound like a very honest interview from his side, more like he was using it as opportunity to sound off the preprogrammed marketing bits.

Look at World of Tanks and you will see what kind of features it is. It is simply World of Tanks with planes instead of tanks.

It's a purely multiplayer only experience and is advertised as such from the beginning.

As he says, the only "singleplayer" thing they might add is training tutorials since piloting a plane a bit different from driving a tank. (There are no tutorials in World of Tanks, for instance).

I understand the background and what it means. The wording of the answer and other similar answers still made it sound like a marketing spiel.
