I haven't played this game in months. Bought it expecting it to be worked on continuously by the devs but its been completely quiet for months. Is there going to be another patch to put in the radio commands that should have been there and speed up the frame rates etc or have they moved on and left the game to die a death?

There's been lots of patches since it came out, it's much more stable now. There's another patch coming soon, it was meant for last week but didn't make it out yet.

From Blacksix at 'the other place' on AI

Artificial Intelligence
Partial list:
• Fixed some non-working orders, removed others from the list. There are no
more orders available to the player that the AI does not follow.
• Added a request for available targets;
• Turned off friendly fire for ground battles (improving FPS);
• Added the ability to query current waypoint for scripts;
• Told AI pilots not to commit ritual suicide when their leader crash-lands;
• Fixed out of turn take offs for AI pilots;

It is very buggy and regardless of your system specs you cannot guarantee that your machine will run it well. On the other hand aspects of it are done superbly well (cockpits and damage models come to mind) and there is hope that a future patch will significantly improve performance and stability as well as reduce the bugs.

I like this, should be on the box - 'Storm of War, quite enjoyable if you pull the stick out of your ass.'

My only complaint with the game, and really the only reason I don't fly it now, is there is no Dynamic Campaign. I'll give it time and keep an eye out for a dynamic campaign generator (the current DCE would be more accurately called a Random Mission Generator).

There are three acceptable campaigns out there that I've seen, DCE being one, desastersoft put out a mediocre free one and then apparently Desastersoft has a paid campaign that looks quite phenomenal.

Are those individual pre-scripted campaigns, where the next mission you face is the same no matter what you do in the mission previous? Or are they an actual Dynamic Campaign Generator?

Not dynamic in any way. The Desastersoft campaigns are scripted campaigns with a nice career interface (keeping track of your successes and it awards medals, too). And you are supposed to play them 'dead-is-dead' on full realism. I'm glad these are only suggestions, so I fly them on relaxed settings and no 'dead-is-dead'.

The missions themselves are very well done and give you the impression of being there with additional voice overs in Luftwaffe slang and nice surprises (only the first time you play the mission of course).

That's definitely a good start to making this a more enjoyable "game" for me personally. Might have to look into this.

Where are these campaigns located? I would be interested in taking a look for when the new patch materialises properly on Steam. If the FPS increases are as good as they are making out I might actually start playing this game again.
