Finally, after almost exactly two years since I started my studies, I turned in my final paper for my MBA program today, and now I'm unofficially done. Man, it feels good to be done with schoolwork! yep

Good for you Luke. Are you planning on getting into another field of work or does it meet some requirement or qualification at your present job?

I'm planning on staying where I'm at for the moment. It doesn't meet any sort of requirement for my job, but of course it doesn't hurt to have it when the opportunity for promotion arises. I started it 2 years back because my job prospects were lousy at the time, but since I have my full GI Bill benefits (including housing allowance), I figured it would be a good way to pass the time while improving my resume and career track.

I currently work in a lab for a semi-conductor manufacturer. Not sure if I will get a promotion opportunity here, but I'll wait and see.

Good stuff. I finished my MA last year after a few years of working, raising kids, studying when I could. Not easy, is it?
Hope it helps out in future. I got a new job with mine within a few months.

An MBA is still a hell of a lot better to have than a Masters in art history or geography. biggrin

Congrats! I've quit my job to move to France for my MBA at INSEAD.

Interestingly, one of my classmates is a former Marine Capt. with 2 combat tours and a healed IED injury. Went Skiing in the Alps with him and a former Isreali tank commander plus a Lebanese management consultant.

Love it.

Yeah, I'm glad that I did it when I was not working (until this past February, when I went back to work). Although I hated being out of work, it did afford me the time to devote my full attention to my studies.

And, graduation is now complete. smile It was a beautiful day yesterday (Saturday) for graduation here in Redlands. A beautiful campus in a beautiful city. That's me on the left with my cohort, getting ready to walk into the theater for the ceremony (there were six of us in all in our cohort. The sixth one is a but cut off in the photo).

The red-white-blue cord that I and the one other guy am wearing is to signify my status as a military veteran. It was the first year the school did this. A nice little touch, and nice of the school to do that.

Oh, I am! smile It took a long and winding road to get here, but I finally made it. Graduated with my Bachelor's in May '01; laid off from my job in August '02; off to the Army in January '03; deployed to Iraq in February '04, back home at the end of '06; failed attempt at being a public safety dispatcher after that; went to paramedic school but hated it and ended up quitting it in March '10; started my MBA program in April '10; back to full-time work in February '12; and now I'm here. smile Thank the Lord indeed for his graciousness in my life. yep It's certainly not the plan I had in mind when I graduated in '01!

So, with that, here's some more photos:

With the school mascot, Thurbe r. (I realized that word spelled correctly is still a no-no here biggrin ).

My best friend since '01 and now my co-worker.

One happy graduate. smile

Still look at lot like my mom, but acting more like my dad every day. biggrin Not that that's a bad thing, though. smile

Oh yes, no doubt about that. Now the challenge is to get my hard work to pay off in the form of a higher-paying job. I know it will, though.
