I remember back when Amazon started their "1-Click Ordering". I never did sign on to that program, but even with the "normal" ordering process where they have your information stored (Orwell is not pleased), it only takes about 3 clicks I think to buy something. Same with eBay.

The Electronic Cart is evil.

And I'm sure we are all voluntarily paying our taxes on out of state/internet purchases right..?? thumbsup

(I just ordered $90 worth of bamboo plants with 2 clicks..) sicko

California already forces the vendors to collect the taxes since last year. For some reason they don't think we are honest enough to pay them. biggrin

California tells online retailers to start collecting sales taxes from customers: http://articles.latimes.com/2011/jun/30/business/la-fi-amazon-tax-20110630

Beginning Friday, a new state law will require large out-of-state retailers to collect sales taxes on purchases that their California customers make on the Internet — a prospect eased only slightly by a 1-percentage-point drop in the tax that also takes effect at the same time.

Getting the taxes, which consumers typically don't pay to the state if online merchants don't charge them, is "a common-sense idea," said Gov. Jerry Brown, who signed the legislation into law Wednesday.

The new tax collection requirement — part of budget-related legislation — is expected to raise an estimated $317 million a year in new state and local government revenue.

Hmm, I just ordered ammo online from an out-of-state retailer, and I wasn't charged any tax.

I love ordering on line just for that reason. Have it delivered to my work and I'm a happy camper :-)

Most States are broke so they're going after Internet sales taxes with a vengeance now.

Plus the fact that the brick and mortar retail stores are at a great disadvantage in terms of paying those taxes they are required to collect by most state laws.

Explains why I have a ton of games on Steam and never played some of them. I can't be the only one.

It's the sales that catch me out with Steam! "Ooh I've always wanted to play that, and it's cheap!" So I buy it, and never play it!
