I've been planning a simpit build for a while. However, due to several military PCSes this year I haven't wanted to start construction on a pit only to have it get banged up in the move. To pass the time I figured I would make some full scale blueprints for my build. I noticed that there are a lot of great resources for the jet crowd but I am a prop-head. I've seen a couple of excellent WWII builds around the net but not a lot in the way of blueprints. Long story short I thought "why not do this myself"?

Here is what I have so far, the Main Instrument Panel(MIP)and MIP Housing for a P-51B mustang.
compare to a photo of an actual P-51B

I've been drawing them from the original engineering drawings and found that I really enjoy the process. I also have the original engineer drawings of the P-51D, BF-109 series, and FW-190 series. In order to help finance my own pit I thought I would see if there was a market for this kind of thing. My current file format is a 1:1 scale PDF. I plan on having the local office max/kinkos/etc. print off a set. Not sure right now if I'd sell the PDFs or a physical print.

I'm interested to see what you guys think of my work and if you think there is a market for it. Thanks.

Very nice work! Not sure if there is a big market for it but I'm sure some guys would appreciate skipping that step and paying you for the plans --- I know they do this of the F-16 pit. However, the best price is always FREE. biggrin But I do understand the need for financing this great hobby wink

They look fantastic, and speaking as a fellow prop head, I agree that there is a shortage of resource materials out there for us. I would be the last person to suggest that you make this work of yours free, however, My interest would be in a Spifire and I'm not sure where my price point would be. I wish you the best of luck though.

For any chance you have some drawings of a p51d throttle and the trim/flaps pedestal ;-) Im thinking of a p51 version of that all metal spitfire control set.......

Just to make sure you are interested in this portion of the cockpit, correct?

I'll see what I can find.

What interest would there be in a "sort of scale" Spitfire cockpit? Something that had the general shape & features and let you fill out the details as you like...

I"m not really looking to build a 'high fidelity' spitfire simpit. What I'm really looking for is the instrument panel relation so that I can make a template to place over my second monitor I plan on using in my 'generic' simpit for when I"m flying my squad missions (we fly spits).
