I realize the G27 has a little deadzone in it, but it is, no joke, 10x as noticeable in rF as it is in iRacing. It makes it quite difficult to come off a corner and let off just enough additional steering (past where the FFB cuts out) to not veer left a lane, but not so much that I bounce off the wall. Hold the turn a bit too long and I scrub back and forth a bit trying to true-up the car.

I did still hit a 39.85 after not too many practie laps, but I'm tempted to back out of the SHQ race as I know given enough laps this is going to cause me to eat either the wall or another car exiting a turn.

Most of what I've tried has had no positive effects.

- Sensitiivity and Deadzone on both controller 1 and controller 2 in rF have no effect whatsoever.
- Checked caster was up (it's maxed...I may try backing it off, but I suspect this will increase the slop)
- Cranked FFB up and down
- played with LGS settings (using 100% FFB, 0 spring, 0 damper right now, but have tried spring and damper)
- Speed Sensitivity - I prefer 0, but have tried up to 35
- Steering lock - I'm running with the wheel set for 900 rotation, and 25 lock in rF. I realize turning down the lock would reduce the severity of the wheel movement, with the tradeoff of having to turn the wheel farther to corner.

So far reducing the lock to the ~ 17-20 degree range has made it the most drivable (dialing out unintended lane shifts and wall hits on exit), but I still don't like the way it feels at center.

I can, literally, drive back and forth wall to grass 4+ times down the straights without "hitting" FFB. Can't do that in iR - the slop range feels a fraction the size it is in rF.

Any ideas? I am running on a fresh "player profile" as I tried that before a reinstall to fix my completely absent FFB problem.

If I'm reading this right, in rFactor with a Logitech wheel you need to dial in the FFB rate to a negative value. Had somebody run into this the other day after he reinstalled and forgot about it. I run -100% FFB and the steering is pretty solid. My steering lock is around 8-10 and I can hold the straights and corner nicely. FFB on the positive side "feels" like you can't keep the car straight without it pulling to the left or right which might explain hitting the wall and grass 4X on a straight. wink

Thanks, but this isn't a +/- issue - I've done that deliberately to know how it would feel. biggrin

Okay, then I did read it wrong...lol. I know you said you didn't care for it, but turning down the 900 degree steering lock I would think would help. At 200mph these cars are twitchy enough, so with the high rate you have with the wheel itself plus high rate in game steering lock any minor correction in your wheel input is going to be exaggerated and toss you all over the track. I have an old Logi Momo so my steering is always pretty natural at 180 degrees and I still use about an 8-10 steering lock in game to give me medium to minor steering inputs and it stays fairly straight on the straights with very little corrections needed.

It's all about personal preferences so I'm just giving my impressions. wave

Talking of upgrades, will the "no brake ducts" and "no tyre ramps" options help or hinder lap times?

I think those are just cosmetic changes that don't affect the performance.

Although I cannot do the main event, I am still willing to participate on some of the practise runs, if its possible.
If yes, I would like to use the number 12 car from the mod (Team Penske).

I gotta disagree there.

Last year I drove with a 270 degree wheel and a lock of '5' in rfactor. Plugging in a 900 degree wheel with no change to lock made it amusing to drive as I had to turn the wheel 3.3 times as far to get the same steering input.

I guess I did go overboard with trying to use 25 lock, but 16-17 lock on a 900 degree wheel gives me the same sensitivity I had with a 270 wheel and 5 lock...and (not that I'd need it) I could in theory turn the wheels much farther. (shrug)

I can drive it much better with the lock in that 16-17 range...and without the extreme unintended inputs...but it doesn't really get rid of the fact that there's a larger "FFB free zone" in rF than there is in iRacing.

I use a logitech driving force pro, set to 200 deg. and at Indy I'm using 10 for the lock in the setup.
