Hello!

I recently have aquired the DOS game 1942: Pacific Air War. However it is not the Gold edition... I am running it in DOS Box. Is there a patch out there that can update this? I missed this game when it first came out back in 1994... Instead I was playing Aces of the Pacific by Dynamix.

Here is a link to the patches for the sim. Your version can be patched to 1.4 and then 1.5

Thanks, but sadly I cannot get any of those patches to install via DOS Box... frown I even tried editing the install.inf file to point to the correct gamedir location and it tells me I don't have enough disk space. So I told DOSBox to allocate me more and still it tells me I have 0 bytes. I found a downloadable copy of the Gold version of 1942: PAW but the sound is all jacked up no matter what options I set in DOSBox... The only version I can get up and going is the original 1942: PAW. frown

Yup, I just got a PM to that effect. However, how do I install it on a Win 7 64-bit machine once assembled?

Cheers! I have a Win XP 32-bit machine at work, so I used that to get it working, then launched via DOSBox. biggrin

However, with version .74 of DOSBox, and this GOld version of 1942: PAW the sound is all kinds of screwed up... Even on this Win XP 32-bit machine. frown Looks like I'll have to stick to the original release...

i installed the 1.4 version from a disk that contained 4 awesome microprose games - and then the 1.5 patch was simply a case of replacing the exe.

I have win 7 64bit and have applied just the sound fixes suggested in the Dosbox forums - i typed 1942 pacific air war sound into google and that took me to it.

Just doing that and keeping the sound selections as SB and SB16 for music and digital work fine now and has eliminated the horrible sound errors. Sure its not the gold version but its pretty damn good as it is for an old game.
