I have hundreds of CD's that i have ripped to my PC. I have also got multiple MP3 downloads from Amazon, play.com etc. Is there a way of archiving them online in order to never lose them if i have a catastrophic crash of computer systems?

I only just found out that you can only download music once from Amazon and Play and this makes me nervous of losing them. I know I can back up on disc but this is time consuming and a cloud storage system seems like it may be ideal.

I have no Apple products and do not use iTunes.. there is no particular hatred of Apply, i just think their hardware is overpriced so prefer Android phones etc.

What about Windows Skydrive? 25 GB free

You can even map Skydrive as a network drive so its as easy as copy and paste.

That 25GB sounds pretty good. Check with your ISP too, they may offer a certain amount of free space.
Amazon has their cloud player too, you get 5GB free and can upload to it, and download again through the amazon mp3 downloader.
Go to your account, then digital content and mp3 cloud drive. You might already see your purchases in there, I can't remember.

If you can get a proxy in the states, you could sign up with Google Music. You can upload 20.000 songs.

Windows Skydrive? not heard of that.. I shall explore these options, cheers guys.

Google Music lets you upload 20,000 files. Even FLAC. It trans-codes them if a super high bit rate down to 320 though. It just recently allowed you to re-download them too. But it you upload FLAC, the downloads might me 320 mp3. Don't know. I have around 4,000 tracks there and they stream beautifully to my phone. The ones I uploaded to Google are encoded by me at 192 VBR MP3. My wife can stream the same songs to her phone.

The other best option would be Skydrive, but there is a 50Mb per file limit.

By the way, I just got a HTC Rezound from Verizon the other day. They had it on sale for 50 bucks. The beats audio is great.

Amazon has a Cloud storage feature, and I am pretty sure that it will include all your music, not just MP3s that you purchased from them. I have lots of MP3 purchases from Amazon, and ripped CD's, too, but have not gone to the cloud, yet.


I have flubbed a few of the Amazon MP3 downloads and I contacted the customer service folks and they reset my download status so I could download them again.

If you download a complete album from Amazon it wants to install a download manager, which I have done and find to be convenient. If you download individual songs then the download manager is not installed, from my experience.

I wonder if things are different in the UK in this regard...
