I don't understand why "John Carter (of Mars)" isn't doing better. Everyone I know who has seen, myself included, it has really enjoyed it. One of my friends said the European numbers are multiple times higher than those here.

For me, it was the horrible acting and really lame love story... That and the whole plot seemed rushed.

I enjoyed it for what it was and had a good time.
I was pleasantly surprised actually.

A friend today invited me to watch it. Never ever heard about the books (which I`ll reading soon now).

Very entertaining! One of the better movies I watched lately.

Liked the movie and the acting, not the "shaky cam" footage. Completely not functional for the scenes it was used in. Fortunately it was of limited duration.

Is there a raspberry award for bad camera work?

That is pretty spot on for the book. It is supposed to be a lame love story since she doesnt love him.

I enjoyed both movies, John Carter (of Barsoom??), and Hunger Games. I have to say, there's actually only a minute or two of actual kids killing kids...and not really graphic...yet even then, even with a PG rating, still a bit disturbing. Not "stop the presses" disturbing, just "uhg".

The backstory to why the games were created...seemed rushed and poorly communicated to the moviegoer who hadn't read the books. And the games seemed, well, pointless within the society to do, at least to me. So it didn't quite strike all the right notes. But it did entertain, and I might catch sequels on netflix next time.

As for the Mars movie, all I can say is the marketing let down a good decent action flick.
