Is anyone a fan of the helmet cam? I see what they're trying to go for but its a little unrealistic.

I don't really get it so far to be honest - it's a banner on the top/bottom to obscure vision and make it look like you're wearing helmet? Hmm.

I like the stock car so far - having some hilarious races around the foo-foo european Grand Prix tracks, get 30 of them on a track trying to make turn 1 and it's like driving a boat smile

What's a good track for the stock?

Edit: Using Wisconsin - seems to work well. Stocks are fun so far because they are so recoverable, in that I can get the lines wrong but the drift/oversteer and pretty friendly. Nice.

Interesting...looks like a 90's Chevy Lumina....I can see the "Days of Thunder" skins already.... biggrin Wonder if they're going to do more that resemble the other manufacturers like Olds, Buick, Ford and Pontiac from that era?

You're right Steve. They made a concious decision to go with that era because it avoided complicated licensing issues with modern equipment. Done properly it could turn out to be a wise move as that was a great era for Stock Cars, not to mention the Days of Thunder connection.

First impressions are great and the engine sound is awesome. Shame they didn't have time to provide an oval so we could give em a proper workout. They are certain to appear pretty shortly though.

Fearless, probably the best track would be Watkins Connecticut as they race there in real life.

Thanks for the Connecticut (Edit: the first Short track is the most 'glen' like) recommendation - much easier than Milan wink I'm amazed for an Alpha they have so many tracks - some I've never had the time for.

Looking forward to some Stocks skins (waves at SHar82 wink ) as the Rainbow Race is very happy looking but a bit odd.

One of my favorite NR2003 mods was a 90's one...think I painted like 40 friggin' cars for it, including the Days of Thunder ones, a set from Talladega Nights and probably 30 fictionals. I can already hear someone now on TS, with a Wonder Bread paint scheme screaming, "Momma, I'm goin' fast!". biggrin

Might have to break out all those old templates and transfer them to pCARS.

I wish they would hurry up with multiplayer already. I wouldn't mind racing with some of the gang here. driving

Are you able to update the build you currently have or is it a complete new download?

New download for me each time - the torrent seems really quick. Not sure if there's a cleverer way, but I don't think so for this build.

Cool, the release notes say something about a new Fanatec SDK, here's hoping it improves my poor Fanatec feel, downloading this build with fingers crossed.

UPDATE: I installed and tried it and it looks like the main changes to Fanatec wheel support is they added LED support for the gear shift indicator and they seem to have removed the strong centering spring so I didn't need to use the F1 dev mode to disable the centering spring force mask.

Alas the Fanatec force feedback is still very flat, only centering force and gear shift force, but not much other FFB for rear car weight or curb rumbles or anything... sigh

I left my updated test feedback on the WMD forums and will still keep waiting and hoping for future builds to improve the Fanatec FFB...

The stocks are a lot of fun so far - a quick video for those not updating their build. The cars in this alpha build are 'skinless' so far.

(Just realized, my in-game FOV perspective is a bit wonky, as I run across 3 screens normally, but it gives a rough idea smile )
