Hi Mace, I played it for the best part of on hour and I've seen quite some consistency in the X-Ray behaviour...
As a tip, if you're interested in the eye-candy, put realism all the way but set tactical aid (the hints I mean) to maximum. It's less realistic but when you enter in scoped and press E you'll see a red diamond indicating the bullet drop and sway.
Managed a coupla nut-shot! heheh...
And don't miss a throat shot or a kidney one! Once I managed to hit both lungs with one bullet.
Or try to hit a soldier in the eye socket!
This game is so necessarily gross I'm almost going to buy it! But seriously, without that violence would be little of it...

Really? I think I only saw 2 x-ray kills, 1 in the right lung and 1 through the eye. Hmmm, wonder why that's happening? I was wanting the gory kill shots lol See they kept the fuel tank shooting = explosive death from the first game
I'll be getting it too, co-op should be fun.

Played a little bit last night before going to bed, and from ~30min of playing it's seems pretty cool; great camera effects for kill shots! Only thing is controls seem kind of clunky (you have to be in the perfect spot to search/use objects); and I kept getting 'stuck' on things like small brick piles and other objects (I remember the first one had the same problems).
So is this version's setting only WWII? I kind of liked the jungle areas of the first one more
Definitely going to have to keep FRAPS running to catch some great kill-cams!

You're thinking of Sniper Ghost Warrior, that one was modern day in the jungle setting. That was fun too, but SE is the next step up the chain. The original SE was WWII as well.

Ahhh, that would explain it lol. They share a lot of the same mechanics it seems. Well in that case I haven't played the first SE hehe

I absolutely love how a bullet that exit a body is now tumbling and deformed by the impact... IF it had impacted a bone, a weapon or anything! GREAT attention to detail, man!

I shot a guy, and the bullet passed through him and then the deformed bullet struck another guy behind him, passed through the second guy and then you could hear the bullet impact on a burned out car.
Small tip - shoot their nade! I had one shot three kills that way.
Wait, shoot their nades or nads. People seem to be doing both.
Yeah I was suprised to when I saw a deformed bullet exit an enemy and nail one behind him. I also like the silenced pistol.
One thing I noticed that kind of annoying is that your character's footsteps are obnoxiously loud if your speaker's bass is too high. Sounds like he's thumping around the place in lead boots. I also wished terminated enemies had there physics maintained. I love ragdoll physics but always get annoyed when a developer neglects to have those rags remain in place after death. A little pet peeve of mine.

This is gonna be the next must have on my list, Multiplayer is probably going to be devoid of all the sfx but coop might still have it. I've played it through about 4 times and I'm wondering if you'll be able to take out the tank with a shot down the barrel?!!

In the original, you shot the fuel tanks IIRC for the tanks. I'd like to see if they have a "through the scope into the eye" animation like in Saving Private Ryan. I haven't been able to manage it.

I think that was in "Enemy at the Gates" as well IIRC, but Mythbuster's tried to re-create it and the bullet never went all the way through the scope. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/259723/sniper_war/

They also seem to model the loss of velocity based on what it passed through. When trying to line up multiple guys in one shot down a street, it seems best to avoid hitting the first guy in the helmet. Even passing though 2 bodies creates a lot of drop.
Notice the drop, the unluckly Germans not that far apart:

The shot is so rare among snipers that it has its own nickname, the 'Quigley' - after the 1990 western Quigley Down Under in which Tom Selleck's character manages the 'trick shot'.
