I bought Fast Attack original CD off of ebay a few years ago. It's an awesome game and I'd love to make a new version of it with hi-res art, fixed GUI and that sort of stuff. Unfortunately I haven't found a programmer sufficiently interested in submarines to launch such a project, yet. IMO Fast Attack mixed with the superior campaign and AI of Red Storm Rising would be one kickass subsim. It's a shame any new subsim is 99% likely to be another U-Boat sim, as if that hasn't reached its zenith with SH3/5 already. Cold War era offers far more possibilities for variety

Problem with modern sims is that (a) the Cold War is not as compelling in as much as no real war occured and fictional war work best if they have some sort of contemporary tie in and (b) it is tough to make soemthing that feels real but that does not require a 6 month qualification course prior to playing the first mission.
SH 3/4/5 with current mods are all great IMHO. SH 5 still has a bit of a way to go to reach its full potential (and it has a lot), but it is in very good shape today.
I wish they would create a 3d version of SubCommand. SC has everything you need if you are a bubblehead, but I confess to being a child about wanting the 3d ship and crew that you get in the SH series. As far as conflict scenarios, nothing compares to global thermonuclear war with a peer competitor.
