Mt copy of Valiant Wings, Norman Frank's book about the Advanced Air Striking Force in France 1940, arrived yesterday, and the first thing I read was about the external loadouts both Blenheim and Battle could carry in addition to the bombload in the bay/s.

I don't remember being aware of this before, but both could carry a load of 40 lb bombs under the wings. I hadn't accounted for this in the Dunkirk loadouts, so set to work. Had to add the 40 lb bomb to the weapons list, and then add hardpoints to both planes, Blenheim already had one on each wing, so made that up to four, and inserted five on each of the Battle's wings.

Now need to check for this on the rest of the 1940 planes.

Hi Moggy,

Presume these are anti - personnel or "fragmentation" bombs for dropping on infantry/vehicle columns? Not comne across them myself either but will see what I can find.

The Skua could apparently mount these 40 lb and 20 lb bombs on wing racks as well. So another hardpointing job coming up.
