Been experiencing crashes and lockups recently when gaming, both in Mass Effect 3 (even when using the Catalyst Crossfire Mass Effect 3 profile) and in BF3. The fans on the GPUs will often start spinning really really fast and really really loudly. Not sure if it's particuarly AMD or Crossfire related issue. Anyone got any ideas what might have caused this error message?

Making me think I might want to sell these cards and get a single new NVIDIA card.

And another error:

I would say that game does NOT like those Drivers perhaps another driver to test?? As for the Fans Spinning up I would run a Tool to monitor the Temps of your Card it could be Overheating but just because they are spinning fast is NO reason to be concerned yet.. just monitor your temp with FurMark running to see what kinda temps we are talking here..

Fans spinning up is normal but just get your temps checked to be safe..you may be fine there and the cards are working as they are intended..

in case anyone hasnt said anything,

Catalyst 12.3 has been nothing but trouble for me.

60% Accuracy in Rendering (or less) in CineBench, compared to 12.2 Betas that came on Disk's 99.98 Accuracy. on my 7950..

My brother had the same drop in Rendering accuracy / increase in errors.

Also, DX11 Games Do NOT like using AA (we had to disable AA in all his games or he got severe artifacts.).

once i get time both his machine and mine will be rolled back to 12.2

12.1 was the last stable driver for the 6900 series

Yes, 12.3 would break TRIXX and MSI afterburner among many bugs...

12.4 Betas (OpenCL 1.2) have gotten very good feedback so far:

im interested in how they are using FXAA on 7900 cards to bench against GTX680s, I havent seen any options for FXAA, only MSAA in AMD Catalyst Control Center.

I wonder if this an AMD related issue? Not at all impressed with Crossfire (too many hassles with games not working properly, and the first bit of advice people give is "disable crossfire." in that case, why did I shell out $$ for two cards?). Thinking of getting a single card, likely the most powerful NVIDIA card b/c it can now drive three monitors. 30 or so frames per second is fast enough to me, so I think I will still be able to game at max settings, even at 4960x1600. I just expect the gear to work, mwithout crap like the above.

Also been experiencing lookups where screens go grey, no dxdiag message, and I must hard reboot. This sort of crap isn't acceptable. If this is inherent to AMD and/or Crossfire then I think I might be done buying AMD cards.

shouldn't driver timeout recovery bring the display back if the driver/card fails.

I experienced similar issues a couple of years ago and the only way to fix it was a complete and total clean OS reinstall.
