For real BF3 realism the case should get shot by a sniper every 5 seconds.

Snipers? You must really suck at BF3.

ZING!

No, no I don't. You must really suck at making friends with that attitude.

ima tell you, BF3 is an adjustment for me, started out with POS Rifles in Assault mode, finally unlocked some add-ons for them got better, but every map Im still constantly getting sniped, on the large servers/maps, there's snipers everywhere.

my brother and I played Karkland for hours the other day, we had Voice Comms and one other person in our squad did as well.

we spawned on each other and stayed in a group, brother already had been rapidly unlocking stuff in engineer class so he had stingers and crap, we were running around the map hiding and taking out tanks, my brother shooting stingers while i was assault w/ health packs and the other guy with ammo packs. That was the only round where i didnt end up dying 30 times.

most of the time I get sniped, spawn, take 2 steps and either get sniped again, or blasted with another weapon. I started only spawning on squad members eventually.

i'd have rounds where i start out 10-2, only to finish 14 and 25-30, because people bail in the middle of the game and the teams turn to crap.

I understand a snipers job is to support from cover, but when everyone else is dead and there are no spawns left, that kinda means to get up off your a... and do something, countless rounds were lost because an entire squad were snipers on a roof together sniping away, even as the tickets started dropping quickly, only caring about the K:D ratio as they whined everytime they died "ahh, why didnt someone tell us a guy was coming up the ladder you guys suck at team work", lol im not gonna sit and baby sit an entire squad. then when we all die they sit on the roof and snipe away, the other team eventually starts #%&*$# when there is no one left but those 4 snipers hiding.

on wake island they have snipers set camp on the edges of the 2 spawns on the tips of the island, seriously....

I refuse to touch the Jets, Helicopters I'll fly like no tomorrow with my HOTAS, but the jets are a joke, always have been, always will.

I'm, really enjoying using the stinger. I play using that and a repair kit in tanks, so I can deal with choppers when they attack, and repair the tank.

Question- is there a way to trick chopper and jet pilots into dumping flares BEFORE I fire a stinger at them? My current approach is to fire the first missile when I have a lock. They inevitably spoof it with flares, so if they are still in range I fire my 2nd missile immediately after, which hits them b/c they don't have flares. Would like to have a more efficient way that doesn't waste that first missile.

The only way I've effectively used AA missiles is a two-man AA team where both lock on, one shoots, aircraft spoofs it, then the second person fires right after the flares burn out. Even then jets can still have a chance to out run/maneuver them if they're a good pilot. Helicopters are a little easier, but skilled pilots can still out-maneuver or even chase the smoke trail and lay waste with their cannons before getting destroyed.

What sucks is that flares are 100% effective, and even the "stealth" perk for aircraft works against IR lock, wtf? The only good counter to aircraft is skilled pilots on your team lol! AAA guns are worthless since it takes well over a hundred hits just to disable an aircraft...ridiculous.

As far as I know, pilots hear two different tones, one for missile lock and one for missile launch.

When you have a missile lock, a pilot will fire countermeasures early if he's a newbie and doesn't know the difference between the tones or he's an experienced pilot trying to spoof a missile from a different source.

Either way, I think it pays to wait to take your shot after getting a lock and based on what you observe, either take the shot or save your missle for a better one.

PS. Nufan ... if you think AAA is worthless, make sure you leave the AA units for guys like me who love the things smile
